It almost looks like the frets are scalloped so there is only a small point of contact when fretting a note. Or 5 strings like you said... What a weird picture lol... are those guitar strings? Interesting approach for a baritone guitar...

This fret job required an enormous amount of time, as it feels regular along all the frets, This isn't fret wear due to bends and hard picking, this is something else, I'm not sure what though. Any one care to guess why these frets are like this, what's the purpose of it?
... maybe this was a 6 to 5 string conversion and those are indeed string grooves (can't see the nut)? Hell, who is the monster that grooves every single fret like that?...
