I find it kind of odd that they roll off the paypal fees on the customer.

Yeah, they're not really taking credit cards either, which is odd. It's either bank transfer (which is generally an involved process unless you live in the stone age with a fax machine) or you pay an extra $110 or so....

Was prepared for the $500 increase, but not the extras on stain options. Oh well

Doesn't it suck that the stain isn't included in that increased price? Unless you want a natural unstained maple top, it's really a $750 increase for the Boden 7. $3500 for one of these is getting awfully close to what Ola charges for a full custom...

Maybe they realised the old prices were too low for them to work and make the expected profits, and deliver the quality Ola wants from them..

Ouch! A CL7 after shipping and import taxes into Ireland could cost around $4600/€3400:scream:

would you get new spec or old spec since you ordered from the previous catalouge? either way the only difference is new ones get compound radius, and 2 IRW neck fillets

EDIT: Just realized something. The boden 6/7/8's get the entire body stained if you order it for the top. The CL7 still gets a natural back, despite Ola supposedly saying bleeding stain is really with an oil finish. what the hell?

I will be getting the New spec sheet.
Which means no 5pc cocobolo bit a 3 pc cocobolo and 2 pc rosewood neck.
I don't mind the change.
Plus there might be a nice extra coming with the new models.

Wow you've got to wonder how PRS and Suhr ever manage all those stained tops and natural edges / backs

It seems that stain + oil finish is the problem, not with nitro or other lacquer. I suppose this makes sense as the oil would penetrate the wood taking the stain with it.

Pre-staining a top would be less of an issue, I'd have thought. No scraped binding but natural back wouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: May be more problematic if you're sanding back the top between stainings. Fitting may be a problem, but I'd imagine that there are ways round it. Wood glue should not allow the stain + oil to penetrate between top and back... unless it allows oil to pass. I don't know.

Usually if you compare $ Vs € with fee, taxe (VAT 19,6%), shipping etc...

price in $ = Final price in €

A Stained black Boden8 with true Temperament approx 4600$ (3400€) and i will probably pay 4600€ (6250$ ............!!!)!!!
Sometimes i think I should travel through the US and take my guitar during the trip and back with it in France... Or keep my name on the waiting list for a full custom... Maybe in 2018 (i'm 454 XD )

Honnestly, As a European guy, the new rate... Rubbish...

So it has been confirmed that the 'mystery' strandberg signature prototype (as signed/approved by Steve Vai) belongs to non other than Mr. Per Nilsson! WOOOT! Such an appropriate fit! I can't wait to see more

The cool thing about the Redrum stain is that you get a mayones gothic on the back with your red top :D

yes

I've already ordered a Boden7 at GC this year, it did not go very well but Bart has to be responsive
However, if I had to make a new order, I would to him :)

Totally GASing to see what they are making for Per.

I was unconvinced by a swirl going on a non-RG sort of thing, but just in the past day I've seen this, and now I'm I'm excited too:

Those "squiggly" things are true temperament frets.
