String action feels different after practicing

Hi,

I'm new here. I have been playing guitar for a few years.

One weird feeling I get when I practice playing a lick over and over again is that I feel that the string action becomes higher after a while. Of course, physically, this isn't really happening. This weird feeling makes playing unpleasant. Does anyone get this feeling? If yes, why? Is this feeling just physcological?

Thanks.
Joe

You're playing so energized that it's warming up the molecular structure in the string alloys!

Joke aside, because I think you'd also have reported the tuning pitch going down a touch, had the strings really started to go lighter on you..

I think it's actually more of a psychological thing.
I have the exact opposite, and very physiological, experience: Fingers just starts hurting ;)

This. :yesway:

To me, after a while, I start feeling the strings like they are a caliber below; for example: the guitar is strung with .009's, I start feeling 'em like .008's.

At some point it bothered me, until I understood how warm up is important. Your fingers react somewhat different when your hand/arm muscles are warm.

Ok thanks, I'll keep this in mind as I practice.
