Hey guys, just recently picked up an ibanez RGD321.

My band's playing in drop A Flat, so I figured I'd pick up a baritone guitar. What would you guys suggest as far as string guage goes?

Thanks!

With that scale length a standard set of .11s or .12s would do you fine. Maybe .13s if you really want it tight.

Have to agree here, 12s or maybe 13s as the man says.

I used to do dropped A# on a 25.5 scale and 13s were tight, the A# was a bit loose but with the extra inch in scale maybe you'll get away with 12s.

11s will be too light I think.

Hey, thanks a lot guys for all of your good input!

I think i'm gonna give those 12's a spin, see how I like em. I've currently got 11's on, and it's a bit too loose for me. (goes out of tune too quickly, too buzzy, etc.)

Thanks again guys! :hbang:

I have an LTD Viper Baritone 300 with a 27" scale which I usually keep in drop A. I use a 7 string set and throw out the thinnest string (EXL110-7 Regular Light 7-String 10-59) making it 13-59. I find it pretty good as far as tension. I'd recommend EXL158 Baritone Guitar Light 13-62 for your situation :)

I'd go with 10-46 + 70 for a nicely balanced set. With the high e out of course.
