I usually play in D standard on a 26.5 inch scale with string gauges of (high to low) 011 .014 .018 .028 .036 .052 and they work well for me, some people may think that is too big especially with the 26.5 scale but i like my strings nice and tight. My new guitar is going to be 24.75 inch scale, and id like to tune in C standard and drop it to A# sometimes, now with that being said, i dont know how much the scale length will change the tension. I was thinking about .012 .016 .024 .032 .044 062. what do you guys thing about that? i appreciate any input or suggestions.

thanks

Using String Guage and Tension Calculator - Version 0.1.4 - 26 apr 1998, you can just about match your old set's tension with this set:

Code:
len 26.5"

D   .011" PL == 16.82#
A,  .014" PL == 15.29#
F,  .018" PL == 15.92#
C,  .028" NW == 18.26#
G,, .038" NW == 18.5#
D,, .052" NW == 18.87#
total == 103.66#

len 24.75"

C    .013" PL == 16.27#
G,   .017" PL == 15.61#
E,b  .024" NW == 16.68#
B,,b .034" NW == 18.61#
F,,  .046" NW == 18.49#
C,,  .060" NW == 18.07#
total == 103.72#

If you don't want to assemble a custom set, I'd probably use something like the D'addario 13-62 set.

i use 13-56 for c standard on a 24.75 inch scale neck so that should work on your baritone, btw is your guitar perhaps the ibanez rgd series?

well either way a 13-56 gauge should work pretty well. if not then got an 11 guage set for 7 strings and ditch the lightest string.
