I'm thinking of swapping speakers from a marshall 1960A cab with celestion g12t-75 and a crate blue voodoo cab with vintage 30. I like the sound of both individualy, but when I use them at the same time is huge. Its like one fills in where the other laks.

so I was thinking, I could swap two from each other and have 2 v30 and 2 gt75 in each cab.

these are my options:
2 v30 on top and two gt75 on the bottom
gt75 on top, v30 on bottom
or like an X pettern

wath do you all think? will it work?

I'd X it, personally. should work fine, so long as the values all match up.

and speaker swaps are easy to do, unless they're soldered on :)

they are all 16ohm, the v30 are 60 Watts, the gt75 are 75 watts.
but I dont think that will be a problem.

Do the 'X' pattern. I just swapped two G12T-75s out of my 4x12 Marshall Jubilee cab with Eminence "The Governors" which are very V30 like and it sounds great. I can now actually use the cabinet instead of letting it gather dust.

I think I'll do that.
I'll reverse the X on one cab so if I use them side by side it will have a similar stereo image.

I think you should get the Mesa Black Shadow speakers and call it a day. They are sort of a "best of both worlds" speaker all in one, and you'd get a consistent sound throughout the room.

:2c:

I just really don't care for v30s' buzzy mids and overly harsh treble death-zone.

WGS British Leads - same kind of speaker, way cheaper :yesway:

you're going to have to wait a bit and tweak your settings to get the full benefits.

and crank up the amp, break 'em in, tweak at high volumes - see how things really sound.
