I picked up some new Mackie MR5 studio monitors yesterday at Guitar Center and I got inspired to write some heavy!

I was feelin like just writing some absurdly heavy shit like Ion Dissonance, Meshuggah, The Acacia Strain, etc.

Drop G with the ESP SC-607B, Line 6 PODX3 Big Bottom patch with a Mesa Traditional 4x12 / SM57 impulse running for guitar. Bass is direct in with some bass amp plug in and drums are Metal Foundry.

There was absolutely no post processing on the guitars, its all just POD and the impulse. I couldn't believe how good it sounded just raw.

I use Logic 9 to record.

Lemme know what you think!

Is it the same POD settings you posted in the other thread? This one seems way more defined and not as muddy

That sounds heavy as shit, but it's hard to make out anything the strings are doing. It still sounds good, though. It's got kind of an intentionally sludgy quality (whether or not it was actually intentional) that works, though it could still stand a bit more definition.

Really heavy mix man, though as Tom said, The guitars are a tad on the muddy side, and I cant hear the notes very well. The mix is still pretty pro.

I do agree but at the same time I was kind of going for a very bass heavy and saggy tone intentionally, i wasn't exactly doing uber riffage that needed alot of clarity in this song, it's all just heavy slamming chug hahaha.

Nah these settings were completely different than the one I posted. This was with the big bottom patch where as the WC pre-pro was with the criminal (5150) patch.

Maybe next time you are playin on the patch, have sevenstring.org up, and the great conjunction happens, you should post those settings....

pretty heavy, but they are right, the guitars sounds a little muddy sometimes. i think that you need to be more used to the translate response of the mackies. a friend of mine has the mackies hr824. he play very good and make very great songs. all his music sounds great in their mackies, but dont translate well sometimes. thank you for the info about the guitar!, im very confused right now xP. btw, what program do you use for the drum? it sounds very good!

oh fuck!

this is awesome! i have to agree though, i can´t quite tell what the guitars are doing, except for making heavy noises :p

it´s got to do with the pre eq i think, there´s alot of high end sizzle and stuff that kind of ends up being the focus of the tone somehow. idunno.

but seriously dude, this deserves it´s own solo project!

when not whitechapelin´ you should be wadin´ :D (GET EET?!)

this is seriously badfuckingass, and the huge more open parts are really nice too!

Phil wants to do vocals on it so if he does I might just have to come up with a sick name for this side project hahaha ;)
