Lately I've had an insane urge to buy something like this

telecaster.jpg

The basic Fender models go for $400 or so, which is just cheap enough to put it in "don't have to save up for it" range.

Somebody stop me!

I'm the wrong guy to talk to. That's hot.

Scan secondhand shops, too - its not uncommon to find a used mexican tele for like $250 or so. I've spent more than that on bartabs before. :drew:

I really want a tele, they're just badass blues guitars.

A friend of mine picked up a very nice Tele about 2 years ago, I think it's a highway 1, tobacco sunburst and maple neck, the thing plays and sounds great! He also has a Fender Deville and both the Tele and Deville are a great combo. One of these days, i'l own a nice Tele. :agreed:

Can't seem to find any decent second hand stores around here - most of the small music shops have closed or are waaaay overpriced. We have a Daddy's, but they're none too terrific either.

There's a place in Porter that has a lot of interesting stuff - I'll check it out for you next chance I get and tell you if it's worth swinging by en route to the meetup.

The thing I hate about Tele's (Fenders, anyway) is the headstock. That is one of the most hideous headstocks I've ever seen.

I'd prefer a G&L, even a Tribute. :D

I've had GAS for one, myself - it would be cool for my cover band...

Oh, and look at the Rondo ones - they're better than the cheap Chinese Fenders (which really aren't that bad for $100), and *close* to the Mexis, and they're really, really cheap.

Maybe summer next year I'll get one, but I'm considering a Fender Japan one, such nice guitars for next to nothing.

I've played a few of the sub-$200 Squiers, and was absolutely turned off - horrible fretwork and the nut, tuners, pickups, jack, and wiring would all need to be replaced.

I'll take a look at the Rondo's offerings.

Looks like Rondo offers a few cheap $100-range guitars, a semi-hollow (which could be nice) with a rosewood fingerboard....and this:

Real (I think?) Duncans, solid ash for $400? That might be an unbeatable price.

A wilkinson bridge too, looks like an awesome guitar.
