Re-watched the OG Brandon Lee last night, still good but there's some stuff towards the end that's just a bit like, "this came out of nowhere" such as him just suddenly losing power. Someone else was saying that they had to cut out a subplot about him losing his powers when he strays from his actual mission and there's a sort of anti-crow that also follows him to keep him in check; which definitely makes a LOT of sense, because technically going after Top Dollar IS going off the path, as he didn't directly do anything to Shelley like the rest of T-Bird and company. Would've been interesting to see that extra bit included at what probably amounted to another 15 mins of screentime.

Haven't watched it in a bit but IIRC the crow was his conduit to the spirit world so when the crow was killed he lost power.

i know it will fucking suck. i went to watch Despicable Me 4 with some of the youngins in the family (young cousins, siblings, ect) in theatres the other day and was freaking tf out when i saw the poster for this "new" "movie". i will not stand for one of my favourite movies ever being butchered like this.
Saw the trailer for it yesterday before Alien. It was pretty bad, I also don't think they needed to remake it

I haven't watched it yet, probably will, but I'm still standing by what I said when this was announced, it's not the OG Crow, but I've also seen the sequels. It's probably not gonna be good, but it's not gonna be the worst Crow movie.

well something happened to it so that means bro lost his powers
Yeah. It was injured. Not killed. And I would think that given that it was injured but not killed, Eric's own mortality reflects this. He was shot, beaten, and then eventually impaled against Top Dollar but yet was able to muster the strength to overpower him through all of that and get back to the cemetery to rest once again. Sure took a Hell of a lot of punishment before he miraculously came back in the fight, which funnily enough happened not long after the Crow scratched out Top Dollar's sister's eyes leading her to fall to her death. Another clue that he didn't lose his powers completely is that he pulled his little disappearing act one final time before going to the graveyard. So, no. He didn't lose his powers.

yeah. i see what you mean. i was definitely misremembering. like you said, the crow getting injured means he could too because the crow was the one keeping him immortal. he didn't lose his powers but pretty much almost died again.

The Crow wasn't killed, though?

Sorry severely injured by a high powered sniper rifle, which vastly limited his power. The crow brought his soul back and was the conduit for his power.

Like I said I haven't watched it in years, but yes exactly. Hurting the crow makes Draven less invulnerable because the crow is his connection to the land of the dead. I did always like the idea of a psychopomp going "hey you have unfinished business, go fuck some shit up before I take you home"

I'll give it a watch by curiosity.
Funny , when you go on some movie sites/ internet, i got the feeling that some people (media/industry) want some movie to fail so hard that they publish articles like "is the crow gonna bomb?" "The actor is unhappy with the end of the movie" "previous director disses the reboot" 2 or 3 months before it's released to orient people on another movie released at the same time or just destroy the movie. Nobody saw it but they already say it's shit....
Same happened with Han solo, the robocop remake etc....

I didn't like the look of this from the trailer. It felt very aimed towards that Gen Z aesthetic (I'm only 39 for the record). The whole thing looks like Polyphia fans were given a media assignment.
Then I saw that it was an 18 certificate (is that NC17 in the states?) and that piqued my interest, as films usually have to have something a bit f*d up to get an 18 cert these days.

NC17 movies never make it in theaters in the USA, so it's probably rated R. If they released it directly to streaming they wouldn't be held back by the MPA. That's why shows like The Boys can get away with all the shit they show

We get quite a few 18 cert films in the UK, would that mean that you guys get a cut version? Or just straight to video?

Any NC17/unrated stuff generally goes straight to streaming/video. NC17 here in the USA has historically been the kiss of death for films trying to get a theatrical release, though the lines between R and NC17 are completely at the discretion of the MPA. I've seen movies like Midnight Cowboy or The Devils that didn't deserve NC17 ratings, and others that absolutely did like Caligula.

Scarface for example, was going to be NC17 til DePalma edited some bits for the theatrical release. Blue Valentine almost got hit with NC17 for showing Ryan Gosling going down on Michelle Williams but they edited it down a tiny bit to get the R rating.

I mean...I watched this bullshit back in the day

So I know it won't be the worst Crow movie I've ever seen

Wow, the cast of actors, the Linkin Park-esque bed track, that seems very era specific to the early 2000s, but also cheesy af in a way like it might be laughably entertaining after a few drinks.
