Ok guys, about to buy my first 7 string soon, and I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:
ESP LTD sc-607b
and
Schecter Blackjack ATX c-7

From people who have experience, which one is better and why?

Also what is the body wood on the sc-607b, some sites say mahogany whereas others say alder???
And I'm also a bit worried 'bout the pickup placement on the sc-607b, does it affect that sound and does it get in the way of your playing/picking.

Thanks!

I love my ATX C-7 and you could always make a visit to GAK in Brighton after Christmas to try both.

It's pretty hard to fault an LTD over £500 I must say, so I reckon the most divisive factors will be EMGs/Blackouts and neck shape. The LTD will have a notably slimmer neck and if you're a fan of Ibanez etc, you may prefer it. A lot of folks on here will also back me on the quality of Blackouts over the 81-7s, I think they just have a more pleasing dynamic.

I still say you go to GAK or similar to try them though.
