The American healthcare system is so garbage. You go to the doctor or hospital then you just wait for bills to show up. Sometimes it takes months. Like how am I supposed to plan financially for this? Is the bill gonna be a couple hundo? a couple thou? How many separate bills will I get? Only the gods know.
And... 50% of the time the bill is incorrect. So you call. And they say they'll get back to you. And it takes another month. But wait, they've sent it to the collection agency already.

This happens with my phone occasionally, my fix is to disable and re-enable BT on the phone.
I have tried that, no luck though.

I have seen an error message on my car's touchscreen that says something about the Bluetooth module being disconnected. That didn't pop up today, but it's that same issue because my phone gets disconnected out of nowhere and will not reconnect until the car is turned off and back on.

Troubleshooting rule #1: turn it off and on again.

It's more of a pain in the ass when you have to turn the car off, open/close the door, let the system "go to sleep" after 30-60 seconds, and then restart it.

That sounds much more first world painful. What kind of car is that? (my issue is with a 2014 Camry btw)

I thought about using a sick day today because I don't want to work, but thought I can't in good conscious do something so fraudulent. So I used my PTO today. I'm truly a saint.
If they can make a gamer a saint, you are absolutely going to be a fucking saint!

Another first world problem: I have a guitar coming today by UPS that says it should be there by 2:30. It's 2:29 and it's not here
Update: it was dropped off at 2:45.

Part 2 of this first world problem: I won't be home from work to check it out for another 3 hours.

I actually got lucky today that some pickups I ordered managed to make it to my door while I was home. 9/10 times, deliveries show up during the singular 30-minute window that I leave for lunch during the day, no matter when that happens to be. Like they're waiting around the corner and watching, so that they don't have to interact with a person.

The worst is when you ARE home, but they don't knock or anything, they just leave the slip on your door and slink away so you have to go pick up your package the next day anyway. Why did you leave? Why didn't you knock? You were 10 feet away! Or the guy who knocked on my door just to tell me he couldn't figure out how to accept payment and then left, with the package in his hands after waving it in front of me.

I know this happens (because it has happened to me), but isn't it just dumb extra work for them? They have to fill out a slip then (presumably) unload it off the truck.

Follow-up on a previous post, about people parking infront of my house. One of my neighbors that doesn't do it explained that they all park there because i have a big maple tree that provides shade.

Had a violent thunderstorm today and SEVERAL branches broke, smashing the windshield out of two of their cars. 🤭

Hours later when the utility workers were there, I'm outside and one of those same neighbors yells across the street "cut that fuckin tree down already". Huh, didn't mind it when you were parking there the last four years. 🤔

Just as I was typing that, the utility workers are outside trying to get the power up again.

This filthy bitch next door (I'll add, the only one on the block with a whole house generator, with her AC, all the lights, TV and her pool pump running) comes outside and yells at the utility truck "You going to be out there all night with your truck running? My window is right here". Like, fucking what?

I walked out to a cafe nearby for lunch to get a tea latte - when I got home, started drinking it, and it's chunky. Unexpected drink chunks are really unpleasant. Pretty sure it's just the tea bag that opened in the cup on the walk home, but it's still annoying, the initial sensation is gross, and now I have to filter the chunky stuff out of my tea or throw out an already-overpriced drink.

I've had excellent health insurance policies for my entire life in America up until this last Fall. An honest mistake was made on the insurance renewal selection through work that I am on and the policy i am stuck with until October is so bad that it should be illegal. High deductible and total bullshit all around. Certainly made me open my eyes to how bad it can be for others and I totally understand all the complaining I've heard about for years now.

It's not even just the policy quality, it's the whole system.
Once upon a time I was fortunate enough to have good insurance but it still felt like a crapshoot whenever I wanted to talk to a doctor.
Is this going to be covered? It looks like it should be, but that doesn't mean anything. It also doesn't mean that they won't tack on something else at an inflated cost that isn't covered and it isn't exactly like they ask you about it before they do it. You have next to no visibility on how much things are going to cost, and as soon as you walk in the door, you're trapped; because now you aren't going to do a one-and-done visit, no matter what you go in for. They keep trying to book you for appointment after appointment after appointment to milk you for every cent you have. I've had stuff that could have easily been handled in one visit stretched out to 3 or 4 separate appointments.

Even when you do your homework; I had to have a CT scan done a few months ago and I spoke with my insurance to get what their agreed upon rate is, contacted the hospital to get an estimate, and the bill I still ended up paying was still several hundred dollars higher than the amount I was quoted by both. And that's for what I paid, versus the estimates I received being for total cost. So you've got a good job, good health plan, can you actually afford healthcare now? LMFAO, nobody knows! If you have to ask you can't afford it!

I can rant about this for pages. It's ironic that 2 groups of people you're supposed to trust more than most people on earth are your doctors and your lawyers and the amount of trust I have in both is somewhere between politicians and drug addicts.

Well I for one have zero shame defaulting on health care bills.

I pay all my other bills but when I get an absurd healthcare bill, I hit ignore pretty quickly. Is what it is. Personal choice.

If it's reasonable I do, but if I hear that something is covered and then find out that it isn't, my bill is gonna be passed around to collectors like a peace pipe. Fuck em.
