Our fiber connection was down almost all day (probably because of the Crowdstrike-thing that occured today), so I didn't get any break from entertaining the kids as I couldn't sit them down to watch some Netflix.

I'd say I'm shocked that such a widespread piece of software screwed up that badly, but then, it's not the first time half the internet was at risk of crumbling over some dumb mistake.

I'm happy about this though, because now if the software I'm developing has an issue, I have an example so I can say "look, even the big boys fuck up sometimes"

That's largely why I'm trying to get a Hilux or an older Tacoma.
Is there a specific year of Tacoma that you like?
I'm not a car guy (don't even own one!), but I love the older smaller Tacomas. I always walk by this one in my neighborhood, and always think to myself, "god, what a sick truck"

Makes me happy to see people take care of older cars that aren't "classics", too.

I'm not really looking for a specific year. Most of the stuff still on the road in my area (MN is extremely hard rust wise on cars) is less than 20 years old. All I know is I want something with very minimal onboard electronics, so it's either new Hilux or a beat to shit probably pre 2008 Tacoma.

I couldn't get propane for my grill today because their system was down and I didn't have cash.

This is exactly why I'm looking into importing a hilux or getting an older tacoma rather than a new one.

I'll forever have a soft spot for the Hilux after visiting my uncle in Trinidad for Carnival as a teenager, bombing around the island in the bed of a Gen6 built like this one drinking Caribs

Played my H-II for the first time in a while and it's sounding kinda dark and low gain. It has EMG's so I can't tell if I need to replace the strings or if I need to replace the battery.

So my wife partakes in the jazz cabbage every now and then. She was watching a Markiplier video about fidget toys and since I have ADHD and a touch of the tism, she had to come and ask me, since I'm neurodivergent have I ever tried any fidget toys. Keep in mind...we started dating a couple months after All Hope Is Gone came out, you would think we know each other pretty good at this point. Somehow she was surprised when I whipped out my balisong trainer and started flipping it around.

She's apparently still surprised be me, even though she was there and helped because my autistic ass, who's amazing at everything from the get go's, bought the butterfly knife before I bought the trainer.

I actually got lucky today that some pickups I ordered managed to make it to my door while I was home. 9/10 times, deliveries show up during the singular 30-minute window that I leave for lunch during the day, no matter when that happens to be. Like they're waiting around the corner and watching, so that they don't have to interact with a person.

The worst is when you ARE home, but they don't knock or anything, they just leave the slip on your door and slink away so you have to go pick up your package the next day anyway. Why did you leave? Why didn't you knock? You were 10 feet away! Or the guy who knocked on my door just to tell me he couldn't figure out how to accept payment and then left, with the package in his hands after waving it in front of me.

I know this happens (because it has happened to me), but isn't it just dumb extra work for them? They have to fill out a slip then (presumably) unload it off the truck.
A bit late to the party on this one, but depending on the volume of packages the local branch gets to deliver per day, it might not be possible to deliver them that day. So they come up with various tactics, like you weren't home and left a note and deliver the next day or ask you to pick up them up at the local branch the next day.
An attempted delivery plays positively into their metrics and they can still claim they can deliver on quoted times plus some services that have a guaranteed time frame of delivery (next day, two day, before 11 etc etc), usually come with money back or part refund promises. You can't ask for money back if they tried to deliver and weren't home.

Except that it makes no sense for them to be "unable" to make the trip when they have to make the trip to deliver me the notice in the first place. It's the same trip. The last time, with the payment machine, the package was in his hand right in front of me and he still left with it. Half the time the thing being delivered is just a registered letter or something, so it's not any bigger than the delivery attempt notice. There's no need for weird theatrics if the logistics didn't work out, that's what tracking numbers are for.
