All of my heavy-use items are a single piece of material, ideally stainless steel

Hell yeah. Pay a little more at the beginning to get something nearly indestructible, save money in the long term.

Plus stainless steel is just dope AF. I mean, even frets are made from it...

Fidget toys are dope. My wife brought this one home from work and I've been putting a lot of mileage on it.

The closest I've ever come to using a fidget toy, other than like flipping a scewdriver through my fingers like people do with a poker chip, is one place I worked, someone dropped a fidget spinner in the customer area. We were out in the shop seeing how fast with an air compressor when the coworker who's turn it was to use the brain cell told us people have gone to the hospital doing that because it blew up.

I got moved off my project that had a bunch of cool stuff to push out this other one that hit the big red emergency button for help, and now I have to go to LA for a week.....what a waste of time. Apparently clients are going to the office and they want bodies in there to make it look like ...something I guess. Pretty much the whole company is work from home still and for good reason. And this sparked the whole return to the office BS talk in our last company meeting, but that's a topic for another post.

Anyway the ants and roaches are probably going to take over my apartment while I'm away. I've been battling them like every day for the last month

Once that topic comes up, you know that sooner than later it's game over. Hard to seal pandora's box back up once someone opens it.

The 1.25ish years I "worked from home" was the dopest reclamation of a life I've ever experienced. I was always out in the woods walking, making meals instead of buying pre-prepared stuff, it was the cleanest my living quarters had ever been, had a niiice garden, etc.

Never forget what they took from us.

My FWP is that over the last week or so I've come to terms with the fact that I should get a new car, not least of which because my brake fluid is leaking and it's not fit to drive, and I can't get a hold of my goddamn mechanic.

So now comes the arduous task with trying to find a car that fits my needs for the next 8-10 years and doesn't feel like a waste of money. My partner and I sold our old house that we kept on as a rent property and made a considerable amount of money from it, but blowing a huge chunk of it on a car seems so dumb and I don't want to be reckless with it, especially since we still have 2-3 years of grad school to pay for, depending on scholarships/grants and such, and I also want to invest a good chunk of it.

I'm looking at a PHEV or hybrid of some kind but if the price with government rebate for a full EV were good enough then I'd consider it. I'm leaning towards a Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid or Toyota RAV4 Prime because those seem like the best options. I want used because I don't want to eat the premium for getting a new car, and any brand that tries to sucker people in with bullshit subscriptions like BMW is out of the question.

I don't want any car that my employer sells because they're overpriced and my discount is dogshit, they also haven't made any decent plugin hybrids in about 5 years and their EV's are way too goddamn expensive.

Fuck, do I really not want to be car shopping.

I'm also sure that within half a year of getting a new car I'll probably get into an accident despite never having one in my current car for the last 13 years.

I'm kind of in the same situation. The bearings on my car are starting to make some noise, and I really don't wanna have them replaced at this point, and I feel like my car's just on the edge of all the problems in the world coming up.

I also want a PHEV, because I don't feel like full on EV's are quite there yet. Besides being expensive af of course. Then there's also the fact that I'd have to have our electrical wiring upgraded to be able to properly charge it at home.
Also I think with a PHEV most of our driving could be done fully electric since we mostly just drive very short ranges within the city, and then I wouldn't have to worry about having to stop to charge on our longer trips. I'm looking at something smaller though, the new Prius looks pretty awesome but it's almost as expensive as an EV. But something in that ballpark anyway.

Yesterday was day 1 back in LA. I forgot how cold the west side can get even in summer.

All that time building up my cold resistance in Canada and it's all gone after one year in Atlanta.

GONE! POOF! It was friggin freezing at night on the west side last night lol

Not to mention this working in the studio business sucks. I hate it so much. It's so cumbersome.

I'm ready to go home now. lol
