Mastodon
Norma Jean
Becoming the Archetype
Sean Drover (of Megadeth)

That's it, off the top of my head. If you were to change gears and go to hip hop the list gets way longer.

Ying Yang Twins (originally from Miami, career started in ATL)
Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz
Outkast
T.I.
Ludacris (Originally from Chicago, career started in ATL "Welcome to Atlanta where the players play")
Dem Franchize Boyz
Usher
Ne-Yo
Soulja Boy
T-Pain (From tallahassee but resides in the A)
Akon
Cee-Lo
Young Jeezy

Basically any throw away pop hip hop song that has been obnoxiously infectious barring "In the Club" since about 2000.

Oh man.

Being less than 30 minutes away from LA and maybe 2 hrs or so from Bakersfield, I couldn't name them all.
Just to start..

Fear Factory
Tool
Adema
Korn
System of a Down
SPINESHANK! :metal:
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Orgy
Linkin Park
Devildriver
Coal Chamber
I think Black Light Burns is from around here..
A Perfect Circle
Incubus
Julien-K
and The Crytal Method just to name a few.

Pretty much this. I think Avenged Sevenfold is from Huntington Beach, too. Not that I go to Orange County often, it's close enough to consider.

Man, I hear bakersfield sucks ass.
You heard right.
Buck Owens died in Bakersfield, if we're counting country guys. They named a street after him.

Most band from my town are hardcore bands, I think Backfire! would be the most known. Suncaged guitarist Marcel Coenen is from a town 30 min away from here.

Well, there are a few bands from around here that are pretty good - Aurora Borealis, I.C.E. Maryland itself has - Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Scott Hull, Bulb/Periphery, Tosin/Animals, etc.

Portland has The Surfacing, which will be huge in 2012.

But, really, Portland ain't got shit... unless you want to give credit to Everclear, She & Him, and The Decemberists. :noplease:

I can't really think of anything good from Central Ohio.....
....Attack Attack....The Devil Wears Prada....(I sadly know both of these bands...used to open for my old band all the time...:ugh:)

And as for Bakersfield, CA. I've played there, that town was just awful, and the venue was plastered with flyers that said "KORN PLAYED HERE!", no joke.

:ugh: Wow... there must be some serious contamination in the water over there. Nothing personal, but I think we're going to have to nuke your city just to be safe. :agreed:

Jon Bon Jovi

... aswell as the other guys in Bon Jovi? :p A listen to either of Jon's solo albums should be enough to tell anyone that there's a huge difference between Jon Bon Jovi himself, and the band Bon Jovi.

Richie Sambora

I would have to say the guys in Pain of Salvation. They rehearse where my old band used to rehearse :p
