Decrepit Birth, Odious Mortem and Braindrill are all literally from my hometown.

I could probably go smoke one with Decrepit right now if I really wanted to, they're really chill dudes. My buddy used to get guitar lessons from their drummer, and my other friend used to get drum lessons from him.

I hate Braindrill, but my friend Ben works with their guitarist's mom at Safeway, and the guitarist's sister comes over to my buddy's house all the time. They're probably like a 5 minute drive from my house.

Other than that, it's all shitty hipster bands. :[

Portland has The Surfacing, which will be huge in 2012.

But, really, Portland ain't got shit... unless you want to give credit to Everclear, She & Him, and The Decemberists. :noplease:

I happen to enjoy the Decemberists, call me crazy I guess

DAATH
Mastodon
Norma Jean
Becoming the Archetype
Sean Drover (of Megadeth)

That's it, off the top of my head. If you were to change gears and go to hip hop the list gets way longer.

Ying Yang Twins (originally from Miami, career started in ATL)
Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz
Outkast
T.I.
Ludacris (Originally from Chicago, career started in ATL "Welcome to Atlanta where the players play")
Dem Franchize Boyz
Usher
Ne-Yo
Soulja Boy
T-Pain (From tallahassee but resides in the A)
Akon
Cee-Lo
Young Jeezy

Basically any throw away pop hip hop song that has been obnoxiously infectious barring "In the Club" since about 2000.

Yeah, and Usher was born in Dallas, raised in Chattanooga.

Let's see from my area
Pantera
Toadies
Element 80
Burden Brothers
Fair to Midland
Embodyment
Sky Eats Airplane
Oh, Sleeper
A Dozen Furies
Faktion
Memphis May Fire
SouthFM
The Reverend Horton Heat

You have Guttural Secrete. I think they make up for all those bands.

Scale the Summit!!!

ZZ Top is from Houston too, I think.

Nah, Memphis is all about that Three Six Mafia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny because I have virtually no rap on my iPod, but I have the entire Three Six catalog. Their old shit was just the right mix of hilarious lyrics and really good beats/basslines.

I'm from houston too, but we get some rights to Pantera (Dallas). Hmm what else... Destiny's Child (rofl). Yeah I'm dry here
