i personally don't give :2c: about the vocals, there are a few exceptions but not many. I get all the feelings and emotions i need from the music itself. Anymore i get more joy out of music no vocals present at all.

I'm all about the riff :rocker::shred:

People empathize with Vocals much more than Instruments. A lot of people place importance on the Voicing of instruments, or their Phrasing. You can often describe good guitarists as able to make their guitars "sing" and "tell a story".

Thats probably why even in metal people feel required to put in vocals. To me vocals are overused in metal, distracting me from what else is going on in the music. I mean, when you have multiple voices going on at once, it's hard to focus on one or the other.
