you really feel bad :noway:

( diary report from the last events )

it's been raining since 36 hours , the laptop my band uses to record at our rehearsal place got stuck so my guitarist bring it to my home, to recover the recordin session and backup older data.

it's like a year that noone care about it, never a defrag, never a checkdisk

so it goes like this

ctrl+alt+del
30minutes
taskmanager pop up
click on "create new process"
30minutes
new process windows open up

etc etc

so i had to wait half an hour between the clean up stages
that were reduce to a full 12hour defrag
and scandisk

it's like 2am and my bed call me
and i'm a sucker for it and went to bed

i got up early, about 7am
ditch university, i have to check the notebook
it works and i'm happy

fast forward, after the panic of loosing the recorded track
my other guitarist give me a call

" hey? are you there? our garage is flooded, we're gonna take everything out "

:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

our garage was fucking flooded because during the night kept raining
reaching a steady 48 raining hours record
so the nearby river flooded the whole fucking area

i blink my eyes still not beliving it

and run as fast as i can to our place of rehearsal

there were 70cm of water (about 26 inches) from the floor

so i had to

return home
check other pants
get a change for later in the day
pack something useful like a flashlight( because our garage is a metal one so is deep under the earth:lol: )

and back to our place

it took about half an hour to be ready to go for it
AND THE FUCKING WATER GAINED AT LEAST 10CM (4INCHES)
SO IT WAS LIKE COMPLETELY FULL OF COLD AND MUDDY WATER

AAAWWWWWGOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

................................fastforward

after 4 hours of hard work the equipment is out

a peavey ultra plus head with 4x12
a marshall head with 4x12
a fender amp
a laney bass amp
two p.a. cabinets
one fender stratocaster
two behringer mixer
a fuckload of stompboxes
and 3mics
a whole drum set (kick, 2x toms, floor tom, cymbals, etc etc)

we get out
sweaty
cold
ready to relax a bit in the sun and just dry a little
(because 4hours in high water is unfuckrulystressful AND cold)

then it starts to rain.............

i didn't knew if i had to lol or to cry.........:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

now i got a shower and a little food
( did i forgot to mention that working in water we could not eat to avoid problems...... )

my main concern is about the cabinets and the amps

what do you think about it?
will they play again?
the lower speaker of both 4x12 were warped from all the water......
but not broken

tips?
hugs?
any help about " how to recover flooded equipment " is welcome

This happened in my old band's basement about 2 years ago, albeit at a lesser extent. I lost a stompbox, and my multifx unit wouldn't take batteries after it went through it. Everything else survived, thank the gods. let your stuff dry out a good while before testing it, then try it out and see what happens. I'm not sure about the cabs though.

just put it in the stove on moderate temperature for a couple of minutes, and you should be good to go :agreed:
do NOT use the microwave!

hehe, no seriously, I have no idea, I'm sorry for you guys. I would probably kill someone if it happened to me.

Wow. That does suck. There are worse things, but so what? There are worse things than a root canal, but who wants to go through one anyway?

Good advice above. Wait and see. The cabinets... hmm. I've never experienced that, but the bottom speakers sound iffy. Worst case, you can probably just swap them out and be back to (sort of) normal.

Same thing happened to my last band....all of our cabs, effects, DRUMS, everything.

We set fans on them after moving them to the garage for 2 days, everything worked fine. Even the drums (the bass drum was 50% in water.)

We were still pissed, but everything worked. :yesway:

I think your stuff will be okay. I feel your pain my friend!
