Alright, I'm pretty new to Black Metal so forgive me here but what exactly is so great about Darkthrone that Burzum, Emperor, Mayhem, etc. doesn't have? Also, what's your favorite album of theirs?

I guess it's offtopic a bit but here you go:

Darkthrone started with death metal then moved to black then mixed it with punk and god knows what and here they are - they just play classic good old metal now. I just respect them a lot for their music view and for not being just silly satanists etc. I like every album of them (as for all three bands I mentioned) but I think "Ravishing Grimness" would be my favourite. Imo all their albums do have pure raw energy in music and it's just fuckin' metal you know.

I also like Mayhem (trve kvlt but I prefer newer records) and Emperor of course. Don't like Burzum much, only a few songs that are really great imo.
