So I'm picking up this beast in a cpl of days. I know enough about guitars to spot seriously crappy Chinese crap, but there's some good fakes out there too, right? Any particular stuff to check for on an '06 UV777PBK? When I have it I can post pics of any verifiable details if someone tells me what to shoot (and how to post:scratch:). I'll have about a month to return it.

As far as I know it's 100% true, but these days ... ?

i think the main thing to look for is just to make sure that the trem is legit. that's a dead giveaway

A 2006 Ibanez UV777PBK should have a serial number that starts with "F06" which will denote it's made in Japan ("F" for Fujigen, the only places UV's were ever made), and "06" for a 2006 production date. It should have the 5-piece maple/wenge neck as well.

As for the trem, it should look exactly like this:

It's an Edge Pro 7 for the record.

You have to watch the strings, you must have 7, if not, is a fake.

Joke.
I think you have to check the pick ups too, (Blaze`s) and the quality of the inlay in the body.
