Scarcely a new topic of discussion although I have no doubt there will always be those willing to approach it from a new perspective :)

Thanks for the links. Dammit people! When I searched for it on 7string, there was a bunch of irrelevant stuff. I wonder if the search engine has a tagging problem.

Honestly, there isn't an awful lot to discuss. They're just a pious group of people that crave attention. Two of the younger ones joined Kevin Smith on an episode of Smodcast and were saying that once 'Grandpa' dies, there will be someone to take his place but more and more of the young people are leaving. So basically, it's only a matter of time until there will only be a few of them left and they will cease to matter.

At one point I think they may have carried a bit of 'weight' to them because of all the media attention they were getting by protesting military funerals but they've diluted their message. They literally protest everything, so every time they try to get in the news, the more people realize that they're a joke.

There are a number of threads about them. Just give it a quick search.

This one for example http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/politics-current-events/150345-westboro-church-again.html

Thanks, I gave it a tweak and got better results. Perhaps there should be a megathread for it, I really doubt the mods would allow that though.

True. Though they crave attention and make money of all the lawsuits from the attention recieved, I can`t help but think of the grief they cause. Plus guess who pays for the Police that stand between them and the grieving/angry people. Thats right the people of this country, that they state they hate and are alllll going to hell. Man how the hell do people get sucked into this BS.

On the other note, I found this short video on them:

And I thought at least these guys had unconditional love for their children. Tsk, Tsk.

They are active in Japan are they?

Religious people interpret the bible in many different ways. Some of them are bloody nice people. Some of them are soul-less shells of human beings. And some of them are members of WBC. I know which ones I would put up against a wall with 1 minute to pray for God to rescue them.

I am frequently saddened that churches like WBC are out there influencing people's view on Christianity. We're not all like that- far from it.

These guys are just trolls. As such, they should be treated like any other troll: ignore them, and they cease to be a problem. All they can do is use their words, which are harmless if you pay them no heed. This thread will only help them.

If those people had come to pickett the Tsunami area`s I think I wouldn`t think twice to cave their faces in (except the kids, can`t bame them:() True, although I do have some problems with religion, these Westboro people are on a scale that I have no place for. I could only wish these people were trolling...

Well they`re fed by the lawsuits which they manage to win over in these situations. It might be simple for me and you to ignore, but not for the people they go pickett and disrespect. See their website, they actively pickett, and once they save some money they`ll be carting their homemade signs to another country. The whole point I`m trying to make is that people need to know of this. For example the News group in my country. Though they do have proper news, its always interupted by some Celebrity`s meth addiction/a wild boar/monkeys and what not.
Though they keep using the ammendments/freedom of speech to support their doings, I`m surprised that the grief they cause is not taken into consideration.

Discussion of WBC is prohibited on this site. Post about them again and it's bans all around. Got it?
