What amp to get?

my birthday is coming up in march, (sweet 17, all day every day... hahaha 50 tyson) anyway, i wanna replace my sh*t-tastic glitchy peavey modular amp for something more like.... a 5150 or a mesa or somethin. but, i'm not sure what to go after. i want something with hi gain, but intricate cleans. i'm considering selling the amp/selling drum gear as well as throwing some birthday cash into it, but i'm not sure what i should do. any and all suggestions are welcome, so long as it's a reasonable budget. <$1k if possible, please.

I'd say for under 1K check out the Carvin V3.

I really like mine.
3 channel amp.
2 gain channels. Each with 3 modes.
1 clean channel. Very clean.
Midi.
2 effects loops.

Lots to tweak. So, take your time.

There's also the lower wattage lunch box size V3M coming out.
