I know I'm not fashionable here, but my vote is still for Bruce Dickinson. When Maiden came to town a few years ago, I was expecting these guys to be hooked up to life-support onstage (and a few band members did look that way), but Bruce came out swinging.

No amount of screaming and artifice can beat an Englishman with a Napoleon complex who belts it with everything he's got.
