There’s quite a few, but the ones that pop into my head immediately were:

Opeth - Blackwater Park / Still Life
Tool - Lateralus / Aenema
RATM - Self Titled
Metallica - MoP / AJFA
Nirvana - In Utero
Alice In Chains - Dirt
Death - Symbolic
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Fear Factory - Demanufacture

Basically, soundtrack to my childhood/teenage years.

This is a massive selection

This album is so fucking good. The title track is intense. I wish more people heard SF.
My personal favorite of theirs is the album w/ Fireworks At Dawn, can’t remember the name right now, but ITILIWFY is right up there.

Oh yeah! That one is on "Life Is Not A Waiting Room", which is definitely my second favorite Senses Fail album. I like how real Buddy Nielson is with his lyrics, and he practically wrote ITILIWFY himself, which I guess explains how it has such a different yet familiar feel in regards to the rest of their stuff.

And Justice For All
Master of Puppets
And yes, even the Black album.
Dark Side of the Moon (blows me away every time)
Reign In Blood
My Arms, Your Hearse
Ghost Reveries

The Jester Race — I’ve got this thing where if I’ve had a long, exhausting stretch at work, I’ll throw this album on in my car on the way home. It’s like hearing it for the first time, every time.

Blut Aus Nord — all the Memoria Vetusta albums and Hallucinogen — even though that last album came out last year it’s like it hits my nostalgia senses anyway.

I suppose you could say these are my favorite albums of all time; some of them for legitimate nostalgic reasons (I’m older than most of you), but they all have this ability to take me away to someplace special.

Yes!! I was just thinking The Jester Race needs to be mentioned. By far my favorite In Flames record.

Mine would probably be

Metallica- Master of Puppets /AJFA
In Flames - The Jester Race
Fleet wood Mac - Rumors
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The away
Breaking Benjamin-We are not alone/ saturate
The Carpenters - Greatest hits
Green Day - Nimrod
Good Charlotte- the young and hopeless

Vader - Impressions in blood. Still my favourite album of all times. Every song is just the same mindless full speed assault, and "Amongst the ruins" has one of my favourite guitar solos of all times as well.
Slayer - Reign in blood
Arch Enemy - Anthems of rebellion
In Flames - Reroute to remain
Kittie - Oracle
Beginner - Blast action heroes
Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
Tool - 10,000 days
Chimaira - The impossibility of reason

This took a bit of thinking, but out of everything I listen to or own, I wouldn’t give these up

I had a look through my collection, I might've missed a few:

The ones that pop up a lot on this board:
The Black Dahlia Murder - Miasma & Nocturnal
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Dream Theater - Metropolis II & Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin & Anthems of Rebellion
Fear Factory - Demanufacture
Carcass - Heartwork

The ones that are less well known
Kreator - Enemy of God & Phantom Antichrist (Come on guys, show some more love for Kreator!)
Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the other side (Really? No one?)
Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction
Robert Cray - Nothin but love
Shery Crow - The Globe Session
Billy Talent - II
Fearless Vampire Killers - Unbreakable Hearts (Never met another person who even knows this band.)
Black Stone Cherry - Folklore and Superstition
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast (I thought lots of people would list this one. Midian is also great.)
Entombed - Wolverine Blues
Ghost - Prequelle
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Nick Johnston - Remarkably Human
Powerwolf - Blessed & Possessed
Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears (Who wasn't a Zakk Wylde-fan when this came out???)
Slash - World On Fire (I actually prefer this to GnR nowadays.)
Steel Panther - Feel the Steel (All the hair metal you would ever need.)
Trivium - Shogun
Lordi - The Arockalypse
Rise To Remain - City of Vultures
Sentenced - The Cold White Light
Die Ärzte - Planet Punk & 13
Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Aerosmith - Get a grip

And then I feel there should be something from Amon Amarth, In Flames, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Machine Head or In Extremo on the list, but the problem is that those bands are incredible when they're at the best, but it's hard to pick an album where they really got everything right as opposed to "just" some awesome songs/moments.

Amazing list, and lots of my favourite albums. I would have listed Imaginations, Demanufacture, and The Arokalypse myself, but they are not "timeless" for me.

  • Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
  • Mayhem - Wolf Lair's Abyss
  • Opeth - Still Life
  • Britney Spears - Britney
  • Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son...
  • Roger Waters - In The Flesh (Live)
  • Gamma Ray - Land of the Free

  • Rammstein - Mutter
  • Rainbow - Rising
  • Deicide - Serpents of the Light
  • Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
  • My Dying Bride - Turn Loose the Swans and The Angel...
Amazing list, and lots of my favourite albums. I would have listed Imaginations, Demanufacture, and The Arokalypse myself, but they are not "timeless" for me.

I was likewise thinking about Altars of Madness; it’s kind of a true classic of death metal.
I find Imaginations from the other Side has the right mix of power metal, fantasy, progressive elements and great songwriting- I always go back to this album from time to time, sometimes after years.

Going to play fair and only list one album per band

Metallica - Master of Puppets
Black Dahlia Murder - Unhallowed
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force
Trivium - Ascendancy
System of a Down - Toxicity
The Offspring - Ixnay on the Hombre
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Megadeth - Rest In Peace
Misfits - American Psycho
Carcass - Heartwork
Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country
Muse - The Resistance
Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

I could keep going but depending on my mood if anything from those comes up on Spotify I will often immediately load up the whole album. To me that’s “timelessness” at work.
