For me it's old school pencil and paper. I follow the exact method in Melvyn Hiscock's book (if you haven't got it, get it). I haven't got anywhere near the skils necessary to use CAD software, I can barely use MS paint!

I use CAD to make the plan, print it out on a transparency, put it on a projector, size it up on a wall, and trace to paper, then make templates.

Yeah, I'm not so good with a pencil, otherwise I'd draw them from scratch.

I use a free version of TurboCAD that came out years ago if you just want 2d drawings, its perfect! its the learning edition if that helps look for it (google is your friend)
