So I was browsing craigslist and found this crazy deal on what this guy claims to be an RG350ex. I hate tremolos, so at first I just blew it off, but then I realized this guy only wanted $65 for it, which is significantly less than the normal used price. I asked him about it and he said the body is sort of dinged up but not bad, and he said the neck was straight. The problem is I did some research about it and I found some flaws that make me think it isn't what he claims it to be.
First off, the inlays are different. The real rg350ex has sharktooth, which has the two points at the bottom, and this has only regular triangles.
I also noticed that it is missing the pickguard, and I at first thought that it might have been removed, but I cannot see any screw holes in the body to signify it was removed, but it might just be because of the not-so-great picture posted.
Everything else seems to check out, having the HSH config and a tremolo system (edge III I believe). I've requested more pictures with no reply at this time, but it is pretty late so I didn't expect him to reply tonight. It also doesn't have say GIO over the logo, so I know it is not a cheaper model, but I just have serious doubts now and I don't want to waste my time going and looking at it tomorrow if it isn't worth more than he is asking. Can any of you Ibanez Gurus help me figure out the model? I've attached the picture from the ad, as well as a picture of a real rg350ex, and I also pasted the link to the ad.
Thanks everyone!

Also, upon further review, I think it might have 22 frets, which I have never heard of on an ibanez, except a few models. I am having serious doubts about buying it now, but I am still curious.

I don't really either, but I just want to make sure it wasn't one of the really low end models that is really only worth that much. I might still go take a look at it, but I just wanted some input just in case a fellow sso member knew what it was exactly.

I would still really like to know what it is, since I may go check it out today. Does anyone have any info about 22 fret RG's? I think the inlays might be stickers, since they aren't the standard sharktooth inlays.

Looks like a 1993 EX370BK, but those said EX on the headstock and had 24 frets. Maybe it was a later version of this model. Do you know what year it is?

All I know is what is on the post. I've requested pictures of the back of the headstock and a closeup of the body, but until he replies I have no idea. Is there any other pictures I should request that could help identify? Thanks for all the help so far!

Edit:
I noticed that too, and they match up with the design of that ex370, but I still think they might be stickers because they don't look evenly placed.

The serial number will tell us year it was made, which will make it easier to identify the model.

So he shockingly responded pretty fast, and the back of the headstock says it is in fact an ex350. I am still a bit confused about the 22 frets, but everything else seems to check out with the model. I looked up the serial number and it says: Your guitar was made at the Terada Plant, Japan 1980 Production Number: 5693. So can anyone tell me anymore about this?

I don't remember exactly, but that guitar is actually Korean-made somewhere between 1994 - 1996. It's the modern equivalent of the RG350/RG450 and GIO series. All the EX-series guitars had 22 frets, so it's fine.

Thanks for all the help, I guess my only question would be if it is worth the $65 he wants for it? in the ad, it looks like the 5 way and tone knob are gone, and the neck and middle pups are disconnected. I think it could be a cool project guitar though, or even just something to flip for a couple extra bucks.

Pass on all EX series with three digit names. Even at $65 you're not going to turn a profit and you'll need to put a lot into making it a fun project guitar.

Thanks a ton Max, I was just getting ready to go pick it up when I saw this and quickly told the guy I couldn't get it anymore, so you probably saved me  I haven't been looking for a 6 string at the moment and I am really not a fan of floyds, so it wasn't like I was desperate for this guitar. I just thought it would be a quick steal. Thank you so much for everyone who contributed! Its always nice to know my fellow SSOers have my back since I am quite uneducated in some areas. You guys are awesome:hbang:
