On my JCA100HDM, the SLO mod basically cleared up the gain. It is less mushy and muddy, and it has more clarity and pick attack. It is like the cross of a JCM800 and a Recto.
Arg dont tempt me :D although it might be the EL84 on the 20W but I wouldn't describe the sound as muddy. I will roll with it a few weeks and may put my hands in it once I am done with my currents build projects.

My wife came into my newly reorganized music room yesterday so I could show her all the space I have now... Then proceeded to count all my guitars. It was at this point that I realized I have a problem  I was under the impression that I had 12, but I have 16. WTF do I need 16 guitars for?

Anyone done a full, swagged out, complete build Warmoth order before? Painted and finished body, neck, hardware, the whole nine yards. I'm digging that 7/8ths size S-style body they have paired with the Gibson-scale neck.

If they all look drastically different it should help your case a little too. I have a bright orange Tele, Dark cherry Bass VI, and all black 7 string super strat. You’d think they belong to 3 different people

I have. I got a Tele deluxe, satin sunset orange over roasted ash and it came out beautifully. It was blood red but almost looked like it was glowing. Hard to describe but it’s a great combo.

I also got a baritone conversion roasted maple neck and fretboard with no finish. I got it plek’d immediately after assembly so I can’t comment on how well it set up straight from factory.

I think I have 2 guitars in every tuning from E down to A, lol.
Kinda in the same boat. I have one guitar for each tuning between E and B as well as the correlating drop tuning (E to D, D# to C#, etc), though I'm thinking about having 2 separate guitars for E# and drop D# since those are my 2 main tunings and I wanna have a floating trem'd guitar for those tunings

I bought a Duncan Distortion pickup for my pointy guitar. The Jackson pup that came in it was just weird. I'm much happier with it now.

Anyone know where I can get 2 long black screws that fit the Duncan bracket? It came with silver and they kind of stand out.

I did a Thinline Tele build a few years ago. Double-bound body, Birdseye neck and fretboard, TUSQ nut, stainless frets, and Gotoh bridge. I used tuners, pickups, and a few various small components from other sources, but basically everything else used for the build was from Warmoth.

The overall fit and finish of the body and neck are great. No sharp fret ends or tooling marks, and all the paint/binding lines are very clean. I had to do some filing to the nut slots and use an angled neck pocket shim to get it set up for my taste, but it was more than "usable" upon initial assembly. I also have more standard-spec Warmoth Jazz bass neck that feels similarly high quality.

Sounds awesome, would love to see a pic of that finish! I'm considering the Tiger Eye stain myself. How was the roasted neck sans finish? Would you pay the extra cash next time for them to finish it on their end?

I like the idea of putting in an order with literally everything needed for assembly from Warmoth just to simplify things, but basically nice parts + decent wood selection is like $1,700+ all in nowadays. I feel like I've heard horror stories of wonky necks and bad body routes, but that was years ago. Just not sure if the woods/materials are up to snuff for their pricing in today's market.
