What software (DAW) would you buy ?

I want to record guitar and bass and trigger midi through my midi controller. Whats some good software ? I work with a mac btw so it can be mac only software. I just want intüitive products that stimulate creativity.

Please tell me how you guys use the software (what interfaces and controllers and stuff), basically the studio setup.

I am continually impressed with Presonus' Studio One. I enjoy making music on it and find it very intuitive.

It comes with most of their interfaces which are a good place to start.

Reaper + Line6 is another even cheaper combination that you could go with.


If you're willing to drop the cash though, go Logic + a good interface. Logic just works so well on a Mac.

That and an Apogee Duet or an RME Babyface + Logic is a nearly perfect little combination on Mac.

(Or one of those interfaces with Studio One)

Yea Logic is a possibility.

I currently have a line 6 UX2. Will one of those interfaces do better with logic combined ?

Moreso because of the quality of the interface and preamps/ADA converters as opposed to the ability to work.
