Which color?

Hey guys, I need some help choosing a color for a flame top. I really dig both, but I can't decide on which I should actually use, if any. Red/orange, or denim? Natural finish? Both appear paler IRL.

Also, should I seal/mask-off the contours on the body, or include them with the dye?

Thanks.

Definitely the red/orange. It's very distinctly different than most red stains, and blue stain is being a bit over used right now.

BTW, whichever color you choose, definitely get white or cream pickups. That would look great on those colors.

I'd choose red orange. It matches the FB better. And I'd probably leave the bevels uncolored, but I'd do a photoshop first to make sure it's not too busy looking.

Red / orange.
And if you are using water-based dye before the sprayed coats, masking the chamfers (probably) won't stop the dye from sipping through the end grain, making those parts blotchy. Maybe you'll be better off masking them while in the spraying process, using tinted coats.

Red/orange with the chamfers natural. That would look pretty awesome I think, and like others said, it's a fairly unique shade.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I decided to go with the red/orange, leaving the bevels natural. It ended up looking a bit more pink, but I like it. It looks orange in one photo because of the halogen lights.

I think that it might look good to stain the maple part of the bevels, but it's totally a matter of opinion. Looking good.
