For some time I used .008 gauge on my six.
Today I'm willing to use it again but...
I can't find .008 for sevens!
Not even an hybrid set.
Why does it happen?!

Because not enough people play 8's on sevens for companies to justify making a set?

Just buy a six-string set and add a single for your low B, dude.

Yes, this man speaketh the truth.

It's MUCH easier buying packs of 6 strings and a few singles for your low b than searching out specific sets for 7 strings.

MF sells sets of single guage strings in lots of sizes that seem to work as well as D'addario or Ernie Balls. I buy 6 string sets and then a 12 pack of .58 guage and it works out fine and is cheaper that always buying 7 string sets.

I always pick up a set of DM's in 8's and pick up the additonal B string. There really aren't enough guys playing 8's.

because 7 stringers generally are men about their strings, and don't like using pansy 8's :flex::lol:

people actually buy those horribly assembled 7 string packs?

Just buy a 6 string pack and get a low B, or better yet, as said above, Juststrings.com.

I play too fast to worry about this whole "sustain" craze that's apparently swept the majority of players. :hbang: :shred:

(actually i just like them. My nerve problems in my hands thank me for it.)

Do any makers besides D'Addario actually make 7 string packs? I've never seen any

ive never seen any. And i'm surprised Daddario does. Ive been playing 7s since 2004 and i've never bought a single 7 string pack.

Ernie Ball, DR, Dean Markley, GHS all make 7 string sets.

The only 7 string player I know of who uses 8s is Chris Storey from All Shall Perish, as he's tuned to F# standard. He buys 6-string sets of 8s and adds a separate low B.

That's what I'm considering, but single strings are hard to find here.
Even worst to find only the low B.
I'll probably have to buy 2 sets, the .008 and a full seven.
In the other hand, I can make an hybrid set with them.

I never ever see any 7 string packs off the shelf of guitar shops except for Daddario and GHS:scratch: Probably has a lot to do with me living in Australia though:lol:
