Hi, I have a guitar that came with a nut that needs a little bit of work. It's an Ibanez RGIB6 baritone. The nut slots are not wide enough to use something bigger that a .64 gauge on the lower string. I would like to use a .72 or a .75 . In fact, when i bought the guitar it came with a .68 on the lowest string that wasnt sitting flush on it's nut slot, it was sitting on top of the nut.

I have this set of tools : https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_nut_file_set.htm
The thickest slot file is probably around the size of a .52 string . Would that still work if i do the widening work by myself?
Do i need to file both sides of the nut slot equally right?
Any specific movement or angle to use ?

If I want to come back to a light gauge set of strings , would that be a problem ?
