I'd get one, with the following specs:

8 string (duh!)
Neck-Trough
Ajusted Body Size
4x4 headstock (spear head, so we could shave a bit of weight off)
Offered in lefty
Offered in 28 to 25 fan
Offered in 27 to 24 fan (high A)
Carbon fiber renforcements
2 double truss-rods
5 piece neck (maple, x, maple, x, maple)
Mahogany wings or Ash wings
Hardtail
15" radius, 16" radius, infinite radius
Offered in Tribal Red/Blue/Green/Purple, Black, Bloodburst, Oceanburst, Lizard/Dragonburst (covers the red, blue and green department right?)
Fretboards in ebony, maple, bloodwood, purpleheart.
Dunlop 6000 or optional scallop.

A lot of options.

I'd take either or a Fanned or Non Fanned 8 string V though but with everything else there.

If I played live I'd buy one, but as I just play for recording purposes it would just get in the way.

YES!!!!! I would buy the FUCK out of an 8 string Hornet. It would not neckdive with a thick strap, and if you hold it in the correct position for playing a V. You don't hold a V like a normal strat or tele, you hold it quite a bit different. As long as it wasn't black, I would buy it but I would actually prefer a bolt on version personally. You can't really have a 'heeless' V due to the strap button locations, but the one bolt on Hornet 7 I seen's bolt on heel was actually pretty nice looking.

Bolt on
Ash body
Maple/rosewood neck (5PC)
Maple fretboard
27" scale or 28" - 25" fan
Reverse headstock
Trans colors with a maple top would be tasty

They are meant to be more of a show guitar, not something you practice with. i play a show maybe every few months, and aside from that my hornet gets almost no usage.

I have to disagree, I practice with my Hornet 7 daily, and it is the most comfortable guitar i've ever owned. You can't sit with it on your right leg, but I don't anyway, rest it on your left leg with your right leg between the V. Its very comfy. I did have to mod a strat jackpate so that was out of the way a bit more, but that is the Only complaint I have about comfort with the V.
