how tricky is it to get a an x-ray of your head if you’ve got absolutely naff-all wrong with it? no medical purpose whatsoever.

or, rather, does anyone know any radiologists in the UK who can pull a crafty one?

Congrats on 666 :woot:

Just go to a football match and sit in the wrong section with the wrong colours, chances are you'll get more than a head x-ray.

EDIT: you blew it mun.

You're gonna have a tough time getting one done, unless you actually can befriend an X-Ray tech or someone actually capable of ordering an X-Ray for you. Your best bet would be to head down to your local A&E department and complain of some sort of head trauma. You'd have to find a way to get the x-ray from them as you generally aren't able to take it with you.

I've actually got an x-ray of my cervical spine from a severe neck injury I had. I fractured my C5 vertebra. After talking with the doc a bit, he gave me one of the x-rays (they took quite a few) to take home with me but that is not very common for them to do.

Hmm, looking for album artwork perhaps? Or is it to satisfy some bizaare fetish of yours?

If it's the former, does it have to be your head? Could you just do a Google search for images?

Alternatively, have someone smack you hard on the head and go to A&E.

I just looked up some treatment protocol.. This might be of use to you, or it could just be random information

Treatment Protocol said:
INDICATIONS FOR SKULL X-RAY
If an emergency CT scan is planned, there is no reason to carry out skull radiography.

Skull films should be carried out if any of the following apply and if CT is not
being performed:
lf the patient is alert and orientated and obeying commands (GC515/15) but:
• The mechanism of injury has not been trivial; or
• consciousness has been lost; or
• the patient has loss of memory or has vomited or
• the scalp has a full thickness laceration or a boggy haematoma; or - the
history is inadequate.

NOTE: Assessment must also include consideration of the possibility of spinal injury and need for immobilisation and imaging of the cervical spine.

and, if you're wondering what the indications for a head CT are:

Treatment Protocol said:
INDICATIONS FOR HEAD CT
CT scanning should be done in a patient who has any of the following features:
(1) GCS < 13 at any point since the injury.
(2) GCS = 13 or 14 at 2 hours after the injury
(3) Radiological/clinical evidence of a fracture
(4) Focal neurological signs
(5) Tense fontanelle or splaying of sutures
(6) Post traumatic seizure
(7) Severe and persistent headache
(8) Repeated vomiting
(9) Irritability or altered behavior
(10) Amnesia for greater than 30 min of events before the injury ( difficult< 5yr)
(11) Any loss of consciousness or memory in combination with a dangerous
mechanism of injury or history of coagulopathy

I've got an x-ray of my skull... though these days they're usually recorded digitally, with no actual x-ray to be handed over
