I'm not surprised. Gibson sold their soul a long time ago.

Honestly, Gibson is a genious company. Hype something up, release something that sucks, gain profit off of hype.
Or: Build huge reputation, make shit product, sell based off huge reputation.
Or: Release guitar for hugely popular Disney boy-band. Gain mass amounts of money.

It sucks, but it's true.

They're popular and sell a ton of records. Gibson (and any other company) will capitalise on that.

Do we in this forum think that's justified? Absolutely irrelevant.

For the record: I actually would be crazy enough to try out the Firebird X, but this... hell no.

As horrible as this guitar is, Gibson would be fools to not try and capitalize on the Jonas Brothers.

I was literally shocked to see a price tag WELL under $3,500. This isn't the blatant highway robbery I've come to love and expect from Gibson.

People 'round these parts are fine with Schecter, and they released a sig model for the dude from Crazytown back in the day. Like the Jonas Brothers or not, they're at least as deserving of a sig model as Crazytown was. It's not like getting a siggy is all about technical ability.

But the Jonas Brothers are symbols of gross over-commercialism.

That being said, this might be good for a refinish project, the guitar doesn't seem bad, save for the finish.

EDIT:Then, rip off the pick guard, and sell it for a higher price than the guitar.

:agreed:

Find me a mainstream artist who is not head and shoulders deep into commercialism.

I'll give you a hint, they're the ones with no merch. ;)

I'll be damned if I spend $1200 on a guitar only to refinish it.

I saw this recently and for some reason genuinely thought it was a joke.

More fool me, lol, silly Gibson, whatever next.
