I've got one blank CD left, and I need to burn a mix of meshuggah songs for my car.

I'm kind of just getting into the band so I'm not too familiar with ALL of their material but Rational Gaze will be on their for sure.. as well as Stengah (love those songs)

If you had one CD (15ish songs because meshuggah songs seem to usually be lengthy) what tracks would you chose??

[Basically your top 15 meshuggah songs that I should check out =p]

Combustion, Bleed, Stengah, Tranfixion, Destroy Erase Improve, Soul Burn, Suffer in Truth, Corridor of Chameleons, New Millenium Cyanide Christ, Sane, DEI - Mayhem Version, Terminal Illusions, Humilative, Ritual, Sickening.

I'm more of fan of the older Meshuggah stuff than the newer stuff.

Sounds like youre into a different era of Meshuggah. Theyve gone through so many sounds. You should really do yourself a favor and check out Destroy Erase Improve if you haven't already. Grab NONE while youre at it. Way more dynamic albums, and you might find yourself changing your mix. :yesway:

NONE is amazing. The first few songs sounds like MetallicA.....on acid. Its great! They've even got a "Metallica Guitar Harmony" on one of the songs. I recommend that entire album!

Personally, I'd just burn Destroy Erase Improve onto CD and jam on that :yesway:

In order from album to album:
Qualms of Reality (this is a must and one of Meshuggah's most underrated songs)
Abnegating Cecity
Ritual
Gods of Rapture
Future Breed Machine
Transfixion
Sublevels
Concatenation
Corridor of Chameleons
Stengah
Spasm
Glints Collide
Personae Non Gratae
Dehumanization (this and PNG in order, friggin' LETHAL)
Combustion
Bleed

That's 16, if you have to take one out, maybe Abnegating Cecity. I tried to grab a little from each album. Many people ignore CC entirely, but it's really a great album (the vocals aren't so hot, though).

Are you referring to FBM when you say DEI?

Also, to OP, I is an amazing track, but it's too long for a burn at 20+ minutes. My advice is to either skip it or maybe look for the 3:33 promo of I that was released before the album came out. It's short, sweet, and gives you a great taste of what I is like.

Jeebus....what a hard choice.

Not counting numbers, my own personal favorites would be, in chronological order:

Humiliative
Sickening
Future Breed Machine
Soul Burn
Transfixtion
Terminal Illusions
Sublevels
New Millenium Cyanide Christ
The Mouth Licking What You've Bled
Sane
Elastic
Stengah
Rational Gaze
Perpetual Black Second
Straws Pulled at Random
Glints Collide
In Death is Life/Death
Sum
Combustion
Electric Red
Pineal Gland Optics

well, ok that's 22, but those would be my faves of all.

The full Chaosphere album. :agreed:

and +1 on the older Meshuggah stuff being better. DEI and Chaosphere are my favorites... faster and more interesting.
