1. Anata. These guys are amazing. They're not melodeath, but they're melodic tech-death, sort of.
2. Origin.
3. Spawn of Possession.
4. Psycroptic.
5. Nile or something.

Only one of these is death metal, but I barely listen to death metal anymore.

I could not pick an order for a top 5, but Black Dahlia Murder and Cannibal Corpse would be at the top;

Black Dahlia Murder - Miscarriage: their most venomous and aggressive song, blew my fucking face off the first time I ever heard it, which was live, standing about 2 foot away from Brian Eschbach! I think this might be my favourite song ever actually. :hbang:

Cannibal Corpse - Pit of Zombies: The first Cannibal Corpse song I really loved, mixes the fast riffs with the crushing ones, great lyrics etc. Everything I love about CC is represented in this song.

Hate Eternal - Servants of the Gods: Jam picked with awesome riffs from start to finish. I bought this album just a few weeks after it first came out, had no idea who Hate Eternal really were, turned out to be a great decision!

Morbid Angel - Where the slime live: An obvious choice perhaps, but the Rutan / Azagthoth combo really shines here

Blotted Science - Synaptic Plasticity: Heavy, groovy, heavy!

Deeds of Flesh - Infecting them with Falsehood
Early Arsis - Worship Depraved
Autopsy - In the Grip of Winter
Defeated Sanity - Engulfed in Excruciation
Prostitute Disfigurement - Bluedrum Torso

Also everyone check out Decrepidemic. They're Portuguese and signed to Sevared Records.

Nile

Not sure all those count as death metal, but bands can cover multiple styles, genres are fluid, and the surest sign of the apocalypse is two metal enthusiasts agreeing on the definition of a metal genre.

Between The Buried and Me are death core

Meshuggah aren't death metal either. Throw all the names your want at me, I don't care, genres are very useful

Mine are:

Cannibal Corpse
Morbid Angel
Suffocation
Hate Eternal
Vital Remains

It changes constantly.

Euronymous wouldn't complain - he's the one who maintained the viewpoint that what Mayhem and the rest were doing was real death metal.

1. Bloodbath - At the Behest of Their Death.
I love the intro so much, and the verse if is so heavy.
2. Vader - Never Say My Name.
3. The Black Dahlia Murder - Everything Went Black. This was the first song that I had ever heard from them, and it was magical. I LOVE the intro.
4. Behemoth - Every song. Nergal's vocals are epic, and the instrumentals are epic. Enough said.
5. Aborted - Carrion. It's from Strychnine.213. I can't find this album, and I want it badly. But this song is Brutal, and I love the bone snapping sounds at the beginning.
