While there are many amazing solos out there, if you had to choose just 5 of your favorites, why would they be?
Mine are:
Threat signal- As I destruct
Moonspell- Moon in mercury
Devildriver- head onto heartache
Exodus- children of a worthless god (holt and Altus are gods)
Dream theater- the shattered fortress

And... GO!! (Don't hate on people's choices)

Soma - Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Corgan)
Rock Bottom - UFO (Michael Schencker)
Domination or Floods - Pantera (Dimebag Darrell)
White Walls - BtBaM (Paul Waggoner)
Elephant Man - Mastodon (Brent Hinds)

Those are just 5 I really enjoy, maybe not favourites. I feel guilty for omitting the classics (stones, floyd, sabbath Metallica, Megadeth etc) but I think they're more universal in that most people would out them in the top 5.

Limelight - Alex Lifeson
Killer of Giants - Jake E. Lee

I'm sure this would change given my mood...

Wow, tough one. Can't think of all of them right now but ....

Allan Holdsworth: Devil take the hindmost (from Metal Fatigue)
Steve Howe: Yours is no disgrace (from Yessongs)
Jennifer Turner: Carnival (from Natalie Merchant's Tiger Lilly)
Eric Johnson: Cliffs of Dover
Larry Carlton: Kid Charlemagne (Steely Dan Royal Scam)

There are so many more "good" ones - I am hyper critical about solos, the above pass most of the criteria for "favorite". :)

Gordian Knot - Rivers Dancing (Ron Jarzombek)
Steven Wilson - Drive Home (Guthrie Govan)
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - California (Dave Flett)
Dream Theater - Octavarium, or The Best of Times, or the end of The Count of Tuscany (John Petrucci)
Extreme - Get the Funk Out (Nuno Bettencourt)

Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably have changed my mind. Very difficult to narrow it down to five.

In no particular order, I have a definite top four:

Octavarium (Razor's Edge) - Dream Theater
Far - Coheed and Cambria
In The Presence Of My Enemies - Machine Head
Open Your Eyes - Alter Bridge

The fifth I can't decide on, maybe Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, For The Love Of God by Steve Vai or Uncle Skunk by Guthrie Govan. Also there's a really cool part in Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs by Oceansize but I'm not sure it's so much of a "solo".
