I like the aesthetic of the zither pins and want to learn more about them, particularly when used for a guitar. Has anyone used these, how do they compare to regular machine heads?

Edit: Reason I ask is I that I bought some more wood and want to make something very minimal (sort of like a headless chapman stick). My other build was a lot of work which is fine but I was not satisfied with some aspects so I will be making some changes based on what I have learned.

I think they're definitely more unwieldy than regular geared tuners, and if its gonna be an ERG chapman type of thing it would end up being more trouble than they're worth. I'd check out these:

Steinberger Gearless Tuners – Review | GuitArchitecture.org

I did a bit of research and yes they definitely would be being 1:1 tuning. These Steinberger Tuners are a bit more expensive and bulky for my liking.

Before this turns into an off topic thread I'll make a thread for this build.
