New Neural DSP plugins getting the same enthusiasm as new Marvel films.

If this doesn't do well I wonder would they finally release a hub plug-in.

The QC was literally marketed as a hardware hub for Neural plugins and they refuse to deliver on that simple bullet point. So glad I cancelled my pre-order.

They seem to have decided it’s far easier just milking people on “individual” download packages like this. Hard pass from me.

I'm not familiar with the history -- did the regular Mark 2 get totally surpassed/replaced by the 2c+? Also isn't the Mark 5 just a collection of all the mark amps such that you wouldn't need the old ones anymore if you have that? I find the 5 appealing theoretically for that reason but perhaps my understanding is off.

The earlier revisions of the II sound different, but the coveted high gain sounds pretty much all came from the IIC+ varieties.

As far as the V, it is kind of a greatest hits, but it doesn't quite cop the full flavor of the other versions. It gets close, but it's mostly agreed upon for strictly high gain sounds, it is the least favorite compared to the IIC+ and IV (with a few of us liking the III best).

Yeah on paper the V was meant to be a best-of amp. But it's got its own thing going on. I wouldn't get it if you want to have the Mark 2, 3, and 4 thing in one box.

DLed the trial just to see; I wanted this to be something I HAD to have.

It’s not. It’s cool and the doubler is awesome on most of those presets but as far as my workflow goes it’s unnecessary.

Everything is dialed in over here:

Turn on loadbox
Turn on amp
Plug in guitar
Play

Just for fun and because I’ve had it since launch I brought up Nameless to compare.

Sounded better to my ears and felt more immediate and fun to play.

Saved me $100, thanks NDSP!

Nameless is legitimately great (sub with Gojira if that's more your speed). As is Nolly for clean and crunch tones. Other plugins are simply unnecessary rehashes of the same shit and not worth another cent IMO.

Not to be a nerd...but is the 2C+/++ in this plugin a Simulclass or a 100w?

Anyway, the Petrucci plugin sounds better IMO. This scratches the itch, with all the push pull knobs available. But it feels like a money grab now.

Agree, the demos I've heard comparing it against Petrucci come out a little weaker to me, somehow more mid-pitched even with the graphic EQ scooped to hell. Having to take the videos on faith until I trial it, but not impressed so far. I'm not a Mark connoisseur, but this just doesn't give me anything new. Looks like its the Granophyre come next sale!

Could not care less for this plug in. The Saldono one was cool but something about Mesa plug in after the recent Petrucci seems kinda whatever.

If you can't spell "Presence" correctly, you're not doing a great job of selling me on the product...

But they replicated the scratched up faceplate near the graphic eq!! D E T A I L

Also I will maintain that NDSP has some of the least usable IRs I've ever tried, or I'm deaf. All the stock presets sound like hot shit in my NDSP Granophyre until I turn off the cab section and load up... well, basically any other IR I own. York Audio OS412 with a 121 and 57 > Every IR I've ever tested in NDSP

While I agree with you, this is one of those rare occasions where I will actually defend them (I guess?). Granophyre is particularly bad with its IRs, I really dont know why. Nameless, Nolly and Gojira all have very very good cabs.

I genuinely cannot understand what drove them to release granophyre with those cabs.

How similar are the jp2c and the 2c+? We just got 4 channels of the former...

Downloaded the trial and I'm not impressed, doesn't sound like a Mark series amp I've ever heard and it just sounds really grainy and hissy. I think the Petrucci plug-in sounds more like a Mark series Mesa than the Suite does. I'll be sticking with the Plini plug-in for a while longer yet.

I guess this is the part where I say I haven't been impressed with a lot of Mark IIC+ emulations? Including the Fractal stuff? I always tended to go for Mark III, Mark IV, TriAxis models because they tended to be tighter and more aggressive. The Mark IIC+ doesn't seem to get as tight, rude, and gainy.

Even slimier; the IIC+ was on the original list of amps to be included at launch that got chopped off, along with a few others. 2 years later it’s still not in the QC and they’re perfectly content releasing it as a plug-in but can’t seem to get it into the QC.
