I was ready to be just "whelmed", but that sounded pretty good. I like it. Hype level is successfully increased.

Ok I have now listened through real speakers. It just has all the Scar Symmetry stuff. I was worried that after almost a decade they might have forgotten what made Scar Symmetry Scar Symmetry, especially with how drastically different the metal landscape is now from 2014 but man this just nails it.

June 9th needs to get here already. Loved it.

Been a really good couple of years for Sci Fi Metal with Michael Romeo's War Of The Worlds part 2, Fear Factory's Aggression Continuum, and now this.

I forgot how awesome Scar Symmetry is! New song has me stoked for what's next and has me wanting to revisit their catalog which I haven't listened to in far too long. Hoping for a US tour at some point, last time I saw them was in 2007 with Insomnium.

I saw a comment that said the chorus sounds a little like La Isla Bonita and now that’s all I can hear. 😆
THAT'S IT!!!

I knew it sounded vaguely familiar. That's literally the only Madonna song I've ever liked, so now I know why my brain was telling me the chorus reminded me of something else.

Phase 1 is my favourite of their albums, so been looking forward to this for too many years...

Inb4 they get retroactively cancelled for the "vaccines that promote disease" line in Limits To Infinity and the new album never comes out.

Yeah that Unseen Empire stuff was fun at the time, but now that every Cletus and Brandine believes it it’s not funny anymore.

I got into them when Pitch Black Progress came out, and they're one of the few brutal bands where I typically enjoy the clean vocal lines a lot. Pretty rare for me.

I do wish they would stir things up a bit here and there all the same, Nilsson has a ton of stylistic range. I'm excited for more of their roundhouse sound in any case.

Going in with now expectations other than that large breaks between albums often results in B-side music, although this was written and recorded a long time ago.

This was really good, I missed Per's playing so much. I haven't listened to SS in a long time.

So happy this (finally) came out! Per actually brought me back from a 10+ year hiatus from guitar when Holo Universe came out.

I like the fact that the riffs are simple-effective and the hooks are catchy. The song actually breathes, which is contrasting nicely with typical super dense prog metal (which can also be good).

As a huge fan of Per's playing, I'm looking forward to learning (i.e trying to learn) all the solos from this album :)

I'll be honest, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. To me it was reminiscent of one of the filler tracks from Dark Matter Dimensions.

Except for the solo, which was tasty AF.

Per's playing is and has always been amazing, but their two singers both still sound like karaoke versions of Christian to me.

Agreed. There's nothing to actually complain about regarding their voices, it's all good, but with Christian it was just fuck yeah 24/7 as soon as he opened his mouth.

Update: I was gonna say I'm only talking about the growls, but damn, I listened to the older material and I gotta say, his cleans are way better too...

Looking forward to this greatly! It's been far too long. Can I hope for a US tour in the near future‽

The vocals are mixed a bit quietly compared to the old albums, but still sound amazing. I think the duo fits Scar Symmetry way better than the old singer.

The bass being a bit more distinct and aggressive (but also a little more flubby) is probably the one thing I feel has stepped down a notch from The Singularity. Maybe a smidge more high-end in the guitars, but I like the grind more than the old "dry" sound.

Can't unhear this from the chorus, though!
