Yeah it only took a few years (I'm not counting the 2 years of lockdowns), but I've finally got my second solo album coming out this year.

First single 'Kindred Spirits' out now on all streaming platforms.

There will be two more single releases until full album drops on April 5th.

Right on, congrats on the completed project.

Can confirm, still the 8th here and the link isn’t up. I’ll be sure to check back in after midnight, eager to hear it!

Just listened, great song!

What gear did you use on this? Drum vst? Bass? Guitar amps or sims?

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! As for gear...

Drums were my drummer's DW kit with Meinl cymbals. Bass was my bassist's ESP Ltd, unsure which specific model, as he recorded remotely. But his bass was fed through my Kemper using an Ampeg SVT profile.

Rhythm guitars were an Ibanez Glaive with EMGs, and leads were an RG with Evos. Any lead overdubs were another RG with Dark Matter 2s. All reamped with the Kemper. For profiles, I used a Soldano SLO and EVH 5153 for rhythms and Bogner Ecstacy for the melodies. The solo was a 5153 EL34 profile boosted with a Free The Tone Gigs Boson. There's also an old Squier Strat for cleans, I forgot which Fender profile. I think it was either a Twin or a Princeton.

Dude this is sick! Those are some super cool riffs and licks you got in there. Super catchy stuff. We're finally seeing another full JP release! Seems the years of work are paying off. Can't wait to hear the rest. Adding this to my work commute playlist. :)

Also, any plans for a physical release for the new album? Even if very limited, it'd look neat next to ny copy of Taking the First Step ;)

Thanks man! Glad you're enjoying it so far! It is nice to finally get something that isn't the usual remixes and demos I put on Soundcloud (but that's going to be another unique entity entirely). /remix hint...

I'm just relieved it's done, but considering the production and everything that happened in between, it was a much faster and smoother effort. My co producer and I mixed this album in 3 months, which was much better than 9 months for First Step. Having a drummer who played with Paul Gilbert and a bassist who toured with Eric Martin helped a damn lot. It's like having my own Mr. Big.

Physical release is currently up in the air. We've discussed about it since it's something I'd be pushing for as with all the other musos involved, so it'll be something we may do down the line.

Haha it's funny you say that, because I feel like I've been watching post status updates about the album for like 5 years  but it's true that in reality it hasn't been that long. So much good stuff about all this. Congratulations again JP :)

It's funny, since looking back, my co producer and I have consistently released something every year. And even with some personal setbacks, and the two years of lockdowns didn't slow us down on the productivity, releasing stuff for other clients, established his recording studio and building a music community. But all of that made us much more confident in the recording production side and well all just thrived on getting the best takes and sounds we could. Though that still didn't stop me from driving him, my drummer and my bassist insane.

So, when do we see you in a G5 album? That was a cool jam! Love the disco vibes.

 Thanks man! Though all told, I'm too heavily cut from the same cloth with the G5 guys that I'll just get swallowed by the sheer talent of everyone else. :ugh:

Glad you enjoyed the track! The song originally wasn't intended to sound like it did. I played the original to one of my closest friends and he said it sounded too much like a j-pop song we knew back to front. That was scrapped and this was written from the ground up, probably during a Nile Rodgers binge.

It's also funny since I've actually shared a preproduction version of this track in its entirety on the socials, but it's so much more satisfying to finally hear it with a real drummer.

@Bloody_Inferno haha those are all great influences to have imo. All those J-influences of yours laid on top of those disco parts are just *chefkiss*.

Having to rewrite a track from scratch is rough tho. I struggle to rewrite a riff  let alone a bunch of slick lead lines and melodies! That kinda melodic playing is something I strive to develop, though sadly I am too disorganized to properly practice.
