A buddy and I accidentally found out we both knew the original line for line. Unfortunately, my family were too cheap to buy movies. So I had memorised the edited for TV version my grandfather recorded with the VCR.

I loved the second one when it came out as well. The third one just started to get really stupid and I couldn't watch anymore after that.

I could never get the whole movie recorded. Its like with Gran Torino, the Clint Eastwood movie, I've seen that movie a bunch, but never all the way through. After a while, my dad decided to rent in for me when we were renting some tapes for the weekend when we were going to the deer camp and didn't have an antenna or cable. And then I rented it and rented it until for Christmas he got me a copy of the movie and a .22. Looking back, that is the most expensive movie either of us have ever watched.

Don't remember if it was posted here yet but I was reminded of this earlier today:

(also, fuck me, when's the last time a new car was starting at $18k?! Ugh)

I worked in a record store when that came out. *Everybody* wanted that album.

Mitsubishi still to this day has one starting at $16,695 (hatchback) and $18k for the sedan.

Kia Rio is $16,750. Nissan Vera is even cheaper than all of them, under $16k.

When I was maybe 9 or so my grandmother took me into Toys R Us and told me I could choose from anything in the store. A risky premise. I chose this:

My brother had one of those. We took it with us to a family friend's cabin "up north" and took it out onto a lake. He took it too far, it lost connection with the remote, then the battery died, and it sunk.. First weekend with it. 😅

Yea, I didn't have a pool or lake so, coolness of the commercial aside, not a smart decision on my part. I drove it around my school parking lot where the small pebbles tore holes in the hover lining when driving around at high speed. Not a very robust piece of tech for $100, IIRC.

I don't know if these came out in the 80s or 90s, but my brother and I had a pair of these, one in each color. Man, we had so much fun with them, and being identical, there was no excuses for losing except for driver skill. 😅

But now through the lens of adulthood and experience in the amp subforum, you can point out that there are parts tolerances of +/- 10% which in total can result in a decisive advantage of one over the other :D

Really? I was super disappointed when I had one the first time...though I only had it when it returned a couple of years back. Not the OG.
