So yeah. I posted like 3 weeks ago for a nu metal band, but got nobody to reply. So im gonna try again. Looking for Vocalist [Rap/Singer], Guitarist [7 string], Bassist [5 String], Drummer, and maybe Turntables? Want a sound like Limp Bizkit's Three Dollar Bill, Y'All. In VA or near VA. Thanks.

Not really. I'm just really, really surprised to hear anyone is even doing this stuff anymore.

But while I fucking HATE Donkey Durst, and I'm not really a fan of Limp... mmm, at all, I love Korn. LOVE Korn. One of my favorite bands. I also really like Bionic Jive and Skindred, so I like some of that rap groove shit. Plus, I love rap music. Tech N9ne, Brotha Lynch, old skool NWA... Shit, my singer is probably the baddest rapper I've ever heard in my life (he just doesn't do it in our band. Straight up death metal and melodic singing with the band).

So, just surprised is all.

Big Korn fan too. I agree with Dark Wolf, it's surprising that someone's still trying to do rap-metal. If you were in CA, I might take you up on yer offer for the fun of it. But I don't get why a lot of metal-heads have some sort of problem with rap. I really like rap... not much from nowadays, but back when it had a message or was just for fun... Run DMC, NWA, Mos Def, Digital Underground... good stuff. Good luck getting a band together.

glad to see somebody's trying it. I've got some dudes i go to school with i wanna jam with and we're gonna try some hip-hop rock mashups. Dunno if it'd be nu-metal or rapcore so-to-speak, but it could be interesting.

i think what surprises me more than anything is that you're basically looking for 5 other people. Usually ads like that are like "guitarist wanted" or "guitarist and drummer" or... something. but not like "band wanted."

haha. yeah. I know a lot of drummers / bassist / guitarists / etc. that want to jam or whatever. But when I say "like rapmetal type" they just kinda laugh and leave. haha. So I kinda need an entire band.

Go to horrorcore.com and ask around there. Some slayer fans that play guitar and stuff might be lurking around.

I'm not a big fan of rap, but the rap i have liked has either been funny, or actually was some kind of social commentary. All the rap i seem to hear people enjoying and that they play on the TV is just pointless "I Got theeze rimz yo and mah bitches str8up fa reeeelz."

My take on it is, is that metal heads see the shit on TV and just assume all rap is like that. *unpopular opinion alert* before i even listened to metal, people said bands like... well, like korn and limp bizkit were what metal was. So i decided this 'metal' was..well, for sake of brevity, lets say i didnt like it at all.
Same with country. Most people's exposure to country is shitty pop music with cowboy hats and violins. Show a guitarist some Johnny Hiland or some bluegrass music, and if they appreciate music with talent, then they'd appreciate it.

horrorcore.com is a forum for horrorcore (rap-genre) and some of them listen to metal.

rap + metal = rapmetal

I agree. Country "twang" sucks, but if you listen to some real country like old Johnny Cash, man that's good stuff. The rule in my opinion is that if it's music that's made for money, to just follow a fad, it's bad music... doesn't matter what genre. From death metal to pop, music made for money, chicks, fame, etc. is just wrong.

I liked Johnny Cash a LOT more before everyone bought a greatest hits after seeing "Walk the Line." ditto with Ray Charles... :/ I'm being stupid, but I liked them more when they were my own personal little set of influences that no one else seemed to really know.

But no discussion of how kickass country CAN be would be complete wiithout a mention of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. :yesway: I also have to admit a soft spot for Kinky Friedman.

Well if you lived in CT I would totally jam with you...I love nu metal. Bands like Nonpoint, Korn, Mudvayne, Nothingface, Slipknot, E Town Concrete, Sevendust....I myself am looking for a nu metal band.

Hm, I've never considered Sevendust as "nu metal."

Anyway, as for Ken's comment, I'm sure I could appreciate the talent and respect him as a musician, but country is the only music I cannot stand. Occasionally I find country mixed with something else like rock or bluegrass or blues or folk that I can listen to, but pure country drives me crazy. I hate everything about it: the twang of the guitars, the "country scale" itself, the way the vocals sound (with that over-the-top accent), the lyrics, and on and on. I've yet to find a pure country artist or band that I can tolerate.

More on topic, I'm also surprised that anyone is still doing this style of music. I like some bands in the genre, but for the most part, I'm not a fan. I doubt you'll be able to find an entire band on here. Even if you find people interested, they most likely won't live in Connecticut. :(

Guys, this is still the classifieds section, not the "embellish people with your opinions on their ads" section.
