    Ibanez Meshuggah Thread (M8M/M80M)

Their gain is usually around noon, as an example on Fred's old Vetta Big Bottom rhythm patch the Drive is set at 11.5 (oclock) just shy of noon. Well, I guess this would be the perfect time and place to plug this, right? ;) IBANEZ M8M / M80M REGISTRY | AVH Guitar Repair

    The Ibanez M8M/M80M Registry

Hey gang :metal: I recently added this to my site, and owners of these cool instruments will hopefully want to include theirs. Think of it the fan group :D I'm a pretty busy guy, but I will try to make updates of new submissions usually on Sundays. Cheers! IBANEZ M8M / M80M REGISTRY |...

Alvarez ABT60 - Performing 2 percussive acoustic guitar songs written by me

Haha, nice playing :yesway: I'm the Alvarez guy at D'Addario Canada during the day QC'ing these, and they're fantastic bang for buck in an acoustic baritone (which btw really isn't an ERG), and there isn't very many companies putting them out. Nice to see these getting good use.

    Blackmachine chambering

I've had 3 BM's come through my shop in the past which I took the opportunity to completely tear apart and scrutinize. I have my own opinions about some aspects of the workmanship, but make no mistake - there's no magical fairydust going on with these guitars, and any seasoned luthier/tech can...

Messhugah guitarist Mårten Hagström spotted with a 9 string

 Unless you know him personally, you might want to be careful making presumptions about what Marten really thinks about gear or not. I can tell you otherwise, and that he has very definite ideas and own opinions on gear. It's just offset that Fred is a serious gearhead, but ludicrous to say...

It looks like Ibanez and Fredrik are experimenting with a True Temperament 8 string

Those bridges were part of an original run of 21 pcs custom ordered by Jens and made by ABM in Germany, mostly in black and a few in chrome, with "T8M JK Edition by ABM" engraved on the body. I had 3 in black and dealt 2 to Darren at Decibel, and have one left which I'll hang onto. The TP8...

Any interest in a 8 string SS acoustic?

Hey cool! Thanks for that link, I didn't see that as I haven't been around here for a while. :) But a FF instrument would increase costs tremendously, and the idea is to keep it down to make it affordable.

Any interest in a 8 string SS acoustic?

Hey all, been a while :) Aside from my own repair stuff, I also work as QC/tech for a major Canadian distributor of a well known Asian guitar brand, and recently I've been discussing with the one of the international brass about the possibility of releasing a commercially made, baritone 8...

NGD Meshuggah M80M! A month on...

Close on those gauges, on the majority of their 29.4" guitars they've been using 9-46+52+70, and generally DR Titefit's, although they have dabbled with Dunlop briefly but went back to DR. On Fred's 27" Stoneman, the 70 is replaced with a 74. And whether SS strings cause premature fretwear...

Ye Olde Metalheads Thread (post up if your 30 yrs +)

Late to this, so I'll have to backtrack and read the whole thread... I might be among the most ancient fossil here, just turned 50, and been into heavy music since I was little kid back to about '71 or so...oh there's soooooo much I could contribute to this, a few of my buds call me Allosaurus...

    Fretboard Shrinkage: What to do?

An arm and a leg? Dude, really? I charge $30 to do end dressing. Just simply raking a mill file down the side of the neck to level them off is only the easy first part..so then what about the sharp edges of the newly beveled ends? Is your completely inappropriate mill file going to smooth...

NGD - A not so merry christmas - Acacia Romulus Multiscale 8 content

I'm looking into maybe making a phpbb forum and registering a domain for it...true, it will take some work, but in the end it's for the consumer's benefit, and to hopefully to help keep luthiery integrous and forthright. It's NOT for the sole intention of shaming anyone, everyone makes...

NGD - A not so merry christmas - Acacia Romulus Multiscale 8 content

Because of all the stuff I see cross my bench over the years, and being annoyed at the overall lack of business ethics commonly seen nowadays, I've actually been thinking about hosting a 'Guitar workmanship disclosure forum', or something along those lines which I can moderate - being a...

NGD - A not so merry christmas - Acacia Romulus Multiscale 8 content

Indeed. In my line of work, I get to see and work on the shit stuff that gets sent out to folks, and it's still surprising to me that some of these instruments by some of these smaller builders doesn't make the one-way trip to the bandsaw instead. I mean, these days it's not a matter of if, but...

NGD - A not so merry christmas - Acacia Romulus Multiscale 8 content

 Wow, I'm so sorry to see you got shafted like that...that is some kind of awful work there and I unfortunately see shit like this so often by newer, small builders that it's almost an epidemic in the last 5-7 years. And not to rub anymore, but it's plainly clear that it's a set neck and...
