Yep. I did a metal version. Apocalypse in 9/8? More like Apocalypse on 9 8's. I've always wanted to do a modern take on it, but with most of the instrumentation, orchestration, and arrangement intact. I used my EBMM JP15-7 and Skervesen Raptor 8 through a Mesa JP-2C.
Hope you enjoy. Let me know...
2007 JP7 in Mystic Dream that I got from Drum City GuitarLand. They had sadly just swapped to D-Sonics, but I haven't gotten around to changing them in the last sixteen years. Currently set up in Drop Ab.
I've always wanted to do a modern metal take of my favorite Genesis instrumental. I think it turned out pretty nice and heavy! I used my Skervesen Raptor 8, EBMM JP15, JP-2C, and Axe-FX Ultra. Let me know what you think!
@tedtan Haha a perfect compliment! Thanks!
@Grindspine Thank you! I don't think I spent as much time on the mix and mastering phase as I should have to really check how untame that synth is. Much appreciated and you should!
@STRHelvete Thanks again, I will keep it up!
@wheresthefbomb Never heard of actually, but I will give it a listen. I was definitely trying to channel my inner Trent though.
@bostjan Thanks a ton! I was going for demented Shawn Lane.
Thanks a ton for taking the time to listen and comment! Yeah, the main synth could probably use a bit more EQ carving.
I'd definitely like to try something like this again; it's not my normal style!
Took lots of NiN influence. I used my EBMM JP7 and JP15-7 for this through a Mesa JP-2C.
I'd love to hear what you think about the composition, performance, mixing, mastering, etc.
Enjoy!
I've been super busy with work for the past year or so and haven't really had the chance to record, finish, or upload new music. Anywho, here's a new mini epic I recorded with my Skervesen Raptor 8 through a JP-2C in my new studio. I'd love to hear any thoughts about the composition...
