  • Yea, well compression might be your key to success, but more likely the problem is in the source (HD500, guitar or even your playing). Also, well mixed drums tend to do magic to guitars. If you want, you can upload all of the tracks to separate tracks and send me a RAR file including all of them, so I can mix from scratch. Would give a different point of view to the mix.

That might be a lot of work though. Do as you wish, I'll try to do my job and help a mate out!
    Hey dude,

I actually don't think that guitar sound is the actual problem in your mix. Compression, well it works fine when used properly, but is not needed as usually as people think. I don't even use compression on my guitars, but one trick to add some extra beef to guitars is to bus the guitar tracks to one channel and compress it. That'll even some dynamics and give you some headroom for the mix.

The main problem in that mix seems to be the drums. They lack seriously sustain and sound way too 'roomy', if you know what I mean. You can send me the track without drums to see if I'm correct. I can use my own drum preset for it.

If I am correct (I really don't know if I am, my ear isn't perfect), I'll be sure to give you some advice on mixing the drums.
    Hi Koen,
would be great if you'd share your tabbed intro of under one sky. Any snippet is really appreciated!
