Due to a convenient Christmas bonus, I decided to finally spring for my first bass. Although I will be playing alongside 8-string tracks, I decided I didn't want to go down to E0 tuning. Playing in the same octave with the proper EQing works well enough for me. Besides, I had been using my...
You and I are looking for same thing, more or less: which BKP to put in our mahogany guitars. There's also no "wrong answer" to the never-ending pickup question. These pickups that were recommended to you are generally brighter to compliment the darker/middy features of mahogany (these features...
I contacted Kalium almost 21 hours ago... After a full day, I'm not sure if they'd get back to me. Either way, I've already had 2 GREAT batches of strings from them, and I'm thinking it's just a fluke. I don't think this calls for an all-out boycott.
Pretty sure the wrap didn't come loose. Really difficult to unwrap it in the first place, actually. It took some 15 minutes just to unwrap 2 centimeters.
Thankfully, that one string was just over 3 U.S. dollars.
 Glad this wasn't my problem. If it's just this one string in this set...
Yeah, so that's my question... Is there such a thing as a string just not working?
Today, I was re-stringing my Agile with a 79 gauge from Kalium (I start with the bass end and work toward the treble) and started installing it just the same way I put on any other string. I unwound it a little...
I think you guys are right, now that I'm really thinking about it. It's probably unrealistic to work against their individual voices to make them sound about the same. It would probably be more productive to work with them and make each guitar sound the best it possibly can. That being said, I...
Acoustically, it is just twangier. You're right about that due to scale length. I just wonder if there's a way to compliment this feature with one's electronics. One thing that I do know is that decreasing the string tension when I tuned down fixed this problem to a satisfactory level. The...
I'm really trying to nail down the EQ differences between my Agile 8 string with Cepheus pups and my Ibanez S7420 with its stock pickups. Eventually, I want to get some new bridge pickups in the future so they can sound as similar as possible. Both guitars are mahogany-bodied. The primary...
Personally, I enjoy the tone knob in the sense that I can get a totally different voice out of the same instrument. What I use it for: I have a fairly basic distortion channel and the tone knob rolled down to 1 so I can get a gnarly synth-like sound out of my guitar.
This effect of the tone...
Sort of... I think the EQ curve on the Pegasus is what I've been looking for, but I need more output. I think a common description is "airy" for this pup, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Although, it could be possible to modify it to increase its output. Maybe by replacing the Alnico...
Awesome to hear! The Cepheus pups on my 8 string don't seem super hot as a guitar pickup, but those rail pickups must have a lot of output. You haven't been the first person I've heard be shocked at how hot those were.
Right on! Well, this is extremely useful info for me. The Seymour Duncan Invader looks rather promising, but I'm still gonna do more homework on this. I'm just trying to see what to change out the Cepheus pups with on my Agile to make it sound more bassy and have the lo mid bite I'm looking for...
