How do I save this abomination

Update - I took the suggestions you guys gave me and tried to retake some of the guitar parts and remix the track. It improved a little bit, but I still think it's a pretty rough job. Anyway, I decided it was time to take my learnings and move on to a new project and so I decided to call this...

Not necessarily. I believe that it's totally fine to adjust with tension, but my thinking was that you have knife edges sitting in a groove and these are made to tolerate the force of being pressed up against the post. However, adjusting the post introduces a new directional force against the...

    Aristides Guitars

While we're on the topic of adjusting the H/0 bridges/saddles, does anyone know if it's alright to adjust the floating trem posts while the guitar is strung up? I know Floyds and edge pros can be adjusted strung, but I wasn't sure if the Hantug trems could be susceptible to damaging the knife...

How do I save this abomination

This is the exact trap that I find myself falling into. I've also been following frightbox on youtube and the importance of a standard workflow seems to be one of his main points that he keeps coming back to. I'm finding that establishing that workflow is much easier said than done though, so...

How do I save this abomination

Awesome, thank you both for the listens and extensive feedback. I’m at work now, but based on your advice, when I get the chance I’ll strip this project back of all of the automation and effects and try to rebuild it from the ground up. Some things that you noted that stuck out to me: 1 – I...

How do I save this abomination

For context I'm doing all work in Reaper with almost entirely stock plugins (save for amp sims, submission audio bass, and EZDrummer) Guitars were tracked through an Axe-FX II, which I'm using as my interface. Guitars were originally tracked with a self-made tone but I eventually gave up on...

How do I save this abomination

I'm still fairly new to home recording, I've been following a lot of tutorials and guides online to learn the basics of recording and mixing for the last 10 months or so, and some of the tracks I've made so far have turned out pretty good, and some....not so good. Specifically, I think I might...

Writing and playing within your skill level

Very good point, my songs are trash but maybe I just haven't dumped enough money into boutique instruments yet :hbang:

Writing and playing within your skill level

Yeah, I wasn't really sure what the norm is. I watch videos of guys on YouTube writing and nailing parts in 2-3 takes, but sometimes I'll take upwards of 10 takes only to realize that I need to work on my chops and come back later.

Writing and playing within your skill level

I find that the time of day and setting greatly determines my creative output. Some of my favorite things I've written came about in the early morning after a cup of coffee and a good night's rest. Most of my playing is after work, but I rarely come up with anything new or exciting in those...

I'll have to dig around for that, was it an interview? I've always been a big fan of those guys

Writing and playing within your skill level

Sounds like we have a similar mentality. I've been writing parts out, transferring them over into guitar pro, and then practicing them until I can play them at speed. The whole process is rewarding from a personal goals standpoint for sure, but terribly inefficient if the end goal is to produce...

Writing and playing within your skill level

Yeah, not something I would do either, but I can definitely see the temptation when you're so close and just want something 10bpm faster

Writing and playing within your skill level

Partially for advice, partially just for the sake of discussion, but how do you all handle writing music that's within your skill level and ability? I've been playing guitar fairly consistently for about 15 years now, but the fact of the matter is that I'm just not as good as I'd like to be. I...
