"upstairs" gigs also sounds like a euro thing.

I wonder if it's also a Canadian thing, 'cause I've seen plenty of double-venues over here where there's a "good bar" and a "not as good bar" on separate floors, where the quality / kind of act dictates if you're playing upstairs or downstairs."upstairs" gigs also sounds like a euro thing.

True, I've played a few of those here in the US although they're usually more like "good venue" on the ground floor, "not as good bar" in the basement. So more like "downstairs" gigs.I wonder if it's also a Canadian thing, 'cause I've seen plenty of double-venues over here where there's a "good bar" and a "not as good bar" on separate floors, where the quality / kind of act dictates if you're playing upstairs or downstairs.
me, but it's that $150 T40 with matching HSC that I slept on in 2018. I didn't even miss out, I just watched it sit on craigslist for a week. may god forgive me.

I don't know if it's all still set up the same way, but in Milwaukee, there was in one building:
The Rave (ground floor)
The Rave Bar (ground floor)
The Eagles Ballroom (2nd floor)
The Basement/Rave Underground (below ground level)
And I've been there while there were multiple shows going on at the same time. Not sure if they ever did all 4, but for sure I've been there when there was two. I was seeing Orgy in The Rave part, and there was some pop show in The Eagles Ballroom upstairs. I remember that, because the dichotomy of personalities in the central lobby area where there was some crossover was hilarious to see.
edit: OK, it turns out I was remembering it wrong...It was 1999, and I was there to see Mr. Bungle and Dillinger Escape Plan in the basement, and at the same night, the other show was Orgy, Videodrone, and Dope. I remember people in the lobby shouting "OR-GEE" (with a hard "G") in an annoying voice up to people waiting on the stairs going upstairs to The Eagles for the Orgy show. I was misremembering it as a pop show, because of the amount of hair product and makeup worn by the concert goers.
