Other than Ochanomizu that you've already mentioned, there's also Ishibashi Music in Osaka. It's only about a 10 minute walk from the Osaka ESP Custom Shop, so you can hit up both in one go. Never been to Sapporo, but I know there is a Big Boss there too.
I got an EC-1000 last year that had DM open coil routes. I had pickup rings installed and an EMG 57/66 set. The neck pickup wouldn't fit unless at a slightly off tilt angle. I eventually just put the Open Core Classics it came with back in because at least they fit properly lol. Look how wrong...
I ended up getting a covered classic set for my Eclipse and they sound almost identical. The Open Cores might have a TINY bit more output but that’s it.
Is there any difference in sound between the Classics vs Open Core Classics? It’s it purely cosmetic? I have a set of the open core that came in a guitar and I absolutely love them. Want to get a set for another guitar but the standard classic would look better in it.
I had the same problem with mine. I had my tech install an EMG 57/66 set and pickup rings, and he actually had to route the pickup cavities a bit to make them fit. I don't know why they made the pickup cavities so small on these. I mean people change pickups all the time. They should be big...
Did not have an OG. I think the screens would be the only noticeable difference. My patches are too basic to have pushed the CPU on the original anyway.
Oh that's cool. I had read a topic, actually I think here, about a guy that was very upset because he wanted something refinished and ESP would not put the ESP logo back on after as it wasn't a factory color. It would have a blank headstock.
My buddy has the same exact guitar. I actually found the stock pickups on it surprisingly good. Ironically they reminded me a lot of a JB/Jazz set lol.
Looks wrong to me lol. Also just FYI if you were to go that route AFAIK ESP will not preserve the ESP logo on any refins that are not a factory color originally offered on that model.
Haha for some reason I always thought it was you.
Yeah that's definitely was beyond a "relic". Who would do that to such a beautiful guitar?!?! Are you going to have ESP do the refin?
If I remember correctly, you came the day after I was there. It had just come in a couple of hours before I got it. They hadn't even had the chance to clean it up and set it up. I actually ended up having to replace all the hardware right down to the screws because everything was so tarnished :p...
Well if you go with white, it will eventually turn to vintage white, so you get to enjoy two colour choices with that one ;).
Glad to see you were able to get one after I snagged mine from under you lol.
I got a guitar a few months ago that came stock with Fluence Open Core Classics. Gave them a try and absolutely hated them. They sounded really weak and sterile.
I ripped them out and installed a set of EMG 57/66 which I love. I tried to sell them locally, but no takers after a couple of...
