Recently I have looking to record some songs as a solo project, got a program for drum tracks, way to mic my amp, way to record vocals, but the only thing missing is bass. I've come up with a few ideas for creating a bass track and I would like to know what's best in your opinion:
A) I could...
I've always avoided Dunlop Jazz just because the look like tiny, fat stubs. Maybe I'll give them a try though.. Do they play smooth on the higher strings?
I happen to have some Dunlop Ultex Triangle picks laying around, they do play alright but it bothers me that I can barely the notes I'm playing sometimes over the loud grind of the pick against the string.
Figured this would be the best place to post this since it did not fit much anywhere else.. Recently, I've noticed how much of a difference a pick makes, from tone to speed, and I've also noticed I can never find a happy medium with picks. If I use my Dunlop Tortex Pointed (Just under 1mm...
Well, the strings came today and I tried fitting them onto the guitar and could not. After filling down some things like I had to on my 6 string, I thought all was good until I discovered that the string does not fit through the tuning peg. It goes in about two inches, but as soon as the...
The guy at Guitar Center told me I should not have a problem fitting a .70 gauge string on, then again I really don't know how much he knows. On my 6 string I had to take a metal file to it for the .60 to fit. :P
Wow, that really does make a difference.. So I was putting more like 191lbs on...
Oh, you are correct, sorry. :P I was paying more attention to the .70 gauge string. But changing the neck scale really does make a difference.
I got them all under 23 - not now due to the neck length change - by just rearranging the strings to make them lighter where needed, like so:
len...
Sure you did that right? Mixing my strings around I can get it so that every string is under 23lbs. That tool is really helpful though, thanks.
As for picking, yeah, if I pick lighter it helps. But it is hard for me to play fast lightly because I like thick, pointed picks.
I just got my first 7 string, a Schecter Hellraiser C7, and it came stock with I believe .58-.11 gauge strings. Needless to say, when I tune down to Drop A to crank out some Nile, it sounds like I'm bashing a sack of coins from all of the fret buzz.
I already have .58 and .52 gauge single...
